Change meaning rise of course!

At that price I don't see how it will impact the value of used M8s really.
M8.2s may drop a little if used M9s emerge at a lower cost, but there is still a fair gap between the cost of an M8 and an M8.2.
There is still nothing else comparable in the M8s price point and still lots of people wanting to buy, so nothing to force the prices down.
Look at the R-D1. Its price hasn't really gone into freefall since the M8 came out, it's the only show in town at that price even if it has none of the brand value of the Leicas
I digital Zeiss Ikon may mix things up a bit, but who knows when or if that will happen.

Not so sure about that, Bobfrance. New price on the R-D1 was US$ 3,000. Current price is what: US$ 1,600? Hmm, just checked e-buy. . . looks like new camera from Japan is in the US$ 3,000 range . . . In the words of Emily Littella: nevermind

Yes but the RD1 is the oldest rangefinder out there and the newer M8pushed it's value down as it came too close in price.

Wouldn't this be a nice opportunity for Leica to establish two different lines of M cameras - a cheaper cropped sensor and a more expensive full frame sensor version (similar to what Canon and Nikon do).

If M9 comes out with Canon cmos, I'm keeping my M8.2.
This would be great!
I see a used M8 or M8.2 in my future! M9 in the more distant future...

May I ask why? Canon has been a leader in imaging chips for a long time.

Ronald,
I don't like Canon cmos. So far I like Kodak CCD and Fuji CCD.

Since Leica says their market for the M's is primarily Japan, they should paint them all red. They tell me that red is popular in Japan. Can't figure out where the white came from.
It should be dubbed i8, it matches my iPhone and iMac so nicely

I shall be waiting to see about IR problems. I still get enough problems with M8 & IR filters with corner colour castes not fully corrected. A full frame chip will be much worse. After all their M8 prelaunch explanations about how difficult the incident light angle at the edge of a chip on a rangefinder camera, I shall wait to see results. Hasselblad's new CF 39 digital back for V series cameras will not be much more than the M9 yet with double the pixels and Zeiss optics my old 503Cx can come out of the attic!

Isn't the CFV-39 about $14000US? That's almost three times the rumored price of the M9...

I will keep using my M8.2, and wait for the M9.2 or M10.

I think that I can sell my M8.2 since I got the M8 at $2300.
(I will also get $200 cash back from Microsoft Live and it will make the price to $2100.)

Really why? Canon has best sensors with good color and no Kodak sensors problems, like hot lines or green ghosts. :bang:If M9 comes out with Canon cmos, I'm keeping my M8.2.

ruslan,
I'm not a fan of Canon and I don't think the Canon has a best sensors. The Canon may have some good picture processing for it's own colors but I don't like it either.
