M8-2 Pherdi 😉

A film camera with no meter, a self timer, 28/35/50/90 framelines only with a bigger brighter viewfinder and knob rewind.

hehe...

Well....this is what happens when you go digital.. it happens with every release of every digital camera amongst the "party faithful".

C'est la vie.

I know that my M2 and M7 and IIIc still produce black "blacks" and I don't have to worry about moire etc.

But hey... all the "right people" said that the M8 was a great camera out of the box and my "friend of a friend" was obviously way wrong in his assumption of the image quality of the cam...

Like I said before, I wanted Leica to achieve greatness with this camera and, perhaps, if they can fix any perceived problems they still will but as of right now if even the party faithful are questioning their undying loyalty, is greatness possible?

Once more into the breach... 🙂

An M9? You guys are smoking that funny weed. In Leica's precarious financial condition, if the M8 isn't an overwhelming success in the marketplace, it's "Kiss their sweet _____goodbye" (American), "Adios" ......... or to be linguistically correct, "Kaput" to them IMHO.

In which case Panasonic will buy it and start selling their compacts and 4/3 DSLRs with the Leica brand 😀

I've never bought a new Leica item and I see no reason to start now. My M's get fed on b&w film. When I've got two working bodies one might get colour occasionally. But for now I'm not giving up my Fuji F11 for when I want digital colour pictures.

There goes another tuppence 🙂 .

Full frame b&w only sensor

My recipe for a perfect M9:

Take an M7.

Remove the film stuff. But leave the film advance to cock the shutter.

Replace the film pressure plate with a CCD -- and it doesn't even have to be full frame and it's okay too if that means the flip-up door disappears into history.

Put a battery compartment where the film used to go.

Place the SD card slot where the film take-up spool was.

Retain the M8's USB port.

Test and release.

That's right... the only controls are an ISO setting, on/off switch, and shutter release. Any other camera settings are done via the USB connection.

A true Leica shooter needs nothing else to go from film to digital.
