Hey everyone I just got back from shooting Comic-Con 2010. Put simply for those of you who don't know it's a convention for the the Comic Industry with appearances by Film and TV stars. It's also an excuse for the the Geeks, Nerds and Dorks of the world to unite and express themselves in, well....you'll see.
I was not there to shoot this feature, in fact I barely had any time at all to shoot these images, but managed to pick off shots here and there in between my 6 jobs a day for clients. I shot everything with my M9 and VC 28/2 and Lux 50 ASPH. If only I had more time to make it into a story, but hope the images are amusing for you. All shot in B+W high contrast and Vintage B&W + RAW.
So here goes (no prost processing done):

Nikon D3s and 24-70
Lastly, this image sums up the event as on the second last day one Nerd stabbed another Nerd in the eye with a pen. I guess these guys couldn't wait till next year to be the first to use it as a costume.

Now how about some celebrities? All using the 50/1.4 ASPH wide open!
Stallone
Lundgren
Charisma Carpenter
Randy Couture

Wow, those are some great pictures. I notice that you really seem to have the ability to get in close with your subjects. That's a wonderful skill to have (in addition to executing the shot). Beautiful work. I would be proud to have taken any of those shots.

I was supposed to go for the first time this year; movie I worked on was finally announced on Saturday after about a year of secrecy. Guess I'll just have to go out west in September for the premiere instead

Great captures, it'd be great if you could post some color versions as well..those costumes look like they would have some mad colors

Virginity Hit. I saw a screening back about 6 months ago and hadn't heard anything about it since, except that it was going to be shown at Comic Con. I also think there was some Battle: Los Angeles stuff at comic con too

Seriously cool shots. You can't ask for a more fertile hunting ground for shooting than Comic-Con...
I just hope it wasn't you or anyone you know that got stabbed near the eye with a pen! I guess when you jam that many monsters into a room, someone's gonna bark.![]()
Well the two were arguing over a seat :bang:

Excellent reportage. My favorites are the mis-matched legs and the family with child on the escalator ...

These photo's are so good!
I'm trying hard, still, after a year, to get to grips with manual exposure. I hope you don't mind me asking how did you know the best exposure settings for the Joker shot, shot at f8?
Thanks

My M5s need red dots!
Exciting look into a weird world... How do they call them? Something like cost parts?
