Hey everyone I just got back from shooting Comic-Con 2010. Put simply for those of you who don't know it's a convention for the the Comic Industry with appearances by Film and TV stars. It's also an excuse for the the Geeks, Nerds and Dorks of the world to unite and express themselves in, well....you'll see.

I was not there to shoot this feature, in fact I barely had any time at all to shoot these images, but managed to pick off shots here and there in between my 6 jobs a day for clients. I shot everything with my M9 and VC 28/2 and Lux 50 ASPH. If only I had more time to make it into a story, but hope the images are amusing for you. All shot in B+W high contrast and Vintage B&W + RAW.

So here goes (no prost processing done):

Lastly, this image sums up the event as on the second last day one Nerd stabbed another Nerd in the eye with a pen. I guess these guys couldn't wait till next year to be the first to use it as a costume.

Wow, those are some great pictures. I notice that you really seem to have the ability to get in close with your subjects. That's a wonderful skill to have (in addition to executing the shot). Beautiful work. I would be proud to have taken any of those shots.

I was supposed to go for the first time this year; movie I worked on was finally announced on Saturday after about a year of secrecy. Guess I'll just have to go out west in September for the premiere instead :)

Thanks guys. Congrats on the film, that must be really exciting. Can I ask what the film is?

Great captures, it'd be great if you could post some color versions as well..those costumes look like they would have some mad colors :D

Virginity Hit. I saw a screening back about 6 months ago and hadn't heard anything about it since, except that it was going to be shown at Comic Con. I also think there was some Battle: Los Angeles stuff at comic con too

haha, well thats gonna take some time. Let's let people digest this first and if it's a hit I'll consider doing the conversions.

Ok, yeah I saw the trailer for Battle: LA and it looks awesome!

Seriously cool shots. You can't ask for a more fertile hunting ground for shooting than Comic-Con... :)

I just hope it wasn't you or anyone you know that got stabbed near the eye with a pen! I guess when you jam that many monsters into a room, someone's gonna bark. :D

Well the two were arguing over a seat :bang:

Fantastic! what a great place to go shooting! and with excellent results too

The real question though is who did you go as? :D

Clicked this thread not expecting much really, but these are amazing. Great work, thanks for sharing!

These photo's are so good!
I'm trying hard, still, after a year, to get to grips with manual exposure. I hope you don't mind me asking how did you know the best exposure settings for the Joker shot, shot at f8?
Thanks
