M9 brochure up... or not

I'm not sure that's the way it will work. As film becomes more difficult and expensive to have processed commercially many people that now hold onto film will abandon it. The reality is that, most significantly with color film, most folks will not continue to use it when local one-hour options are gone. Sure, you can drop it in an envelope at Wal-mart and send it to Fuji, but it is modern times and most snapshooters want to see their stuff now, not in a few days. Especially since they mostly share photos digitally, now. Color film will be the first to go.

As for B&W, there is a steady attrition in the number of people shooting B&W film as cost and convenance, especially with 35mm, and the new style cameras from Panasonic and Olympus lure them away from film. The market is already small, and there is no reason to believe that attrition won't continue. Just look at the increasing number of converts to small digital cameras here on RFF.

Small companies that produce nothing but film don't have the luxury of doing a run of film on a line once a year like Kodak or Fugi are likely doing right now. It would mean laying off employees and hiring new ones every year. Once lines start being shut down for long periods due to decreasing demand, they are likely history.

My feeling is that film, if it dies, will die precipitously, rather than gradually.
 
can someone explain to me how leica ended up fixing the issue of the lens being too close to the (full frame) sensor? were new microlenses developed or did is the fix done via software? i can't really find anything different compared to the m8 in the brochure in that respect..

i'm using the leica 1.25x on my 0.72x m6 and a megapearls 1.35x on my m8. i find the 1.35 on m8 gives pretty much the same view as a m6 with the 1.25, 0.92 on the m8 and 0.9 on the m6.
 
One of the links early in this thread led to a virus that has disabled my computer. I can't find which link it is and I'm not trying any more of them to find out.

Seriously. My computer is completely disable with a fake virus application trying to get me to give it my credit card so it can clean my computer of viruses.

My guess is the cost to build an M8.2 is not all that much different from building an M9, so why have both? This is why I think the pricing of the M9 will be the same or just slightly more than the M8.2.

Have you never seen a negative that was spoiled or "manipulated" by bad or good printing in the darkroom???
 
The only application I have working is the browser, because it needs that to try to sell me porn and viagra. I can't run anti-virus software because every application I try to run brings up the "infected" message.
Nothing runs.

Anyone have suggestions?
 
Restart your computer in "safe mode" by pressing one of the function keys during start up. Can't remember which one. F8?

Boot Windows in Safe Mode. Reboot and keep tapping the F8 key before the Windows logo comes up on the screen to show it is loading. You will get some start up options. You will get a Windows Advanced Options menu, move down with the keyboard's arrow keys and press enter once Safe Mode is highlighted.

When Windows has booted (it'll be very low resolution and low colours) run your Virus Checker or use the System Restore found in your Windows Start Menu + All Programs + Accessories + System Tools. Choose the most recent date where a checkpoint is available and run the restore. All your personal files will be left intact but Windows settings will be reset back to that date and usually remove the virus and other dodgy stuff.

If you are running a PC this happened to me before I swiched to a mac. What i did was in the control panel there is a performance and maintenance icon click this. Then on the side bar of the next window under see also>> there is a button that says system restore click this and then follow the procedures to set you computer back in time to before the problem occured. This is what I had to do on a computer running Windows xp recently so sorry if you aren't running xp it may not work but this is the only solution to the antivirus virus I have ever came up with.
 
I think I've got it.
I found the process and killed it (once I got task manager running from the run window). Now it's letting me run my virus software. Hopefully this will do it.

I can't run a mac. I have to make a living. ;-)
 
I will ad that somewhere there is an @$$hole that just made it to my "Seriously needs to be pounded to pulp before I kill him" list.
 
One problem with the free download sites is that they allow advertising that has big "click me to start your download" buttons that are totally unrelated to the matter at hand. I saw a couple last week that were *very* deceptive - you may have run afoul of one of these.

According to the brochure, they offset the microlenses towards the edge of the sensor.

Hopefully, they each filter IR, too...

I have seen badly retouched prints, but retouched 35mm negatives I have never seen.

There is no question about wich system is easier to manupulate or to falsify. Digital!
