A few shots from the streets of Bangkok. Leica M9/35/1.4 ASPH. Focusing is a breeze if you know what you're doing 🙄

All shot between ISO 800-1600 at 1/500 sec from f/1.4-2

But do you need 1/500s of a second then? I still claim that high iso performance is highly overrated.

Steve

PS: Most interesting sport photography since quite a while.

Me. But then again I tend to shoot in darker places then lit takraw courts.

PS:
Nice set.

Leicashot,

great Leica shots ;-)). Even on a shabby screen these pictures look fantastic. Who's gonna ask for better high ISO performance ?? 😀
Cheers

While there are better ISO performers out there, such as my D3s, ISO 1600 is good enough, at least as good as film, so it's already as good as the film alternative in M.

Yes, i did need 1/500 sec, or I could have slowed it down for effect. The biggest mistake snappers make is to select shutter speeds that are NOT fast enough. Honestly it is this point alone that distinguishes the average snappers from the good photographers.

I'd rather a grainier, sharper image than the alternative.

I also completed a story on the 'Miss Tiffany's Universe 2010' contest for transsexuals in Pattaya. Story is on my website. www.kristiandowling.com. All shot with a Leica M9 + 35/1.4 ASPH and Nikon D3s and 21/28/35/50Mak/100Mak Zeiss Lenses.

Thanks to PopFlash for supporting this project.

Cheers

Compliments to the photographer aside it's a little hard to evaluate the high ISO performanec of any digital camera let alone the M9 with black and white.

I can produce very acceptable results with my M8 at 1600 or 2500 for that matter in black and white but it's a somewhat different story if I want colour.

I would have to imagine this sport has it's share of wrist injuries! 😱
