Mamiya 6 question

Hi, I recently bought a second hand Mamiya 6 with 50mm and 75mm lenses. At first I freaked out because the shutter wasn't firing without film in the camera. So I cleaned the contacts on the lenses and body and the shutter fires even without film.

Now I have been reading that the shutter should not be firing without film in the camera?

I have some film on the way for testing so hopefully it isn't an issue. Any insight from fellow users would be appreciated greatly.

IIRC it fires without film if the back is open.. Shouldn't fire if the back is closed and the film isn't in, I think the winding lever will just keep turning without coming to a stop. Not too big of a deal though if it works fine otherwise.

The shutter won't fire without film in the camera if the camera back is closed. It will fire without film if the back is open. If yours is firing with the back closed and no film in it, then its not working right. I'd test it with film and see if it fires normally with film. If so, I'd probably not worry about it.

Yes it fires with the back closed/open, without film. It didn't at first until I cleaned the contacts on the lens and body.

Some film should arrive tomorrow so I can test whether it will be a problem.
