Mamiya 6 vs 7

No. If you want a camera that does both, you'll have to get a Fuji GF670. Masking your photos is kind of pointless, even if you made your own mask, the film would still be spaced for 6x7 so you're just wasting film.

I find it strange that Mamiya didn't make this an option, I mean, it would help sell the idea if the Mamiya could shoot multiple frame sizes, plus it already takes 35mm and it's not too hard to design a double cocking system where a switch alters the amount of rolling done by the advance lever.

Se la vis!

I never owned a 6 but the 7 is superb! Highly recommended!

I always wanted to shoot 6x6 but I always mentally considered it a gyp somehow, like I was getting cheated, and I stated on 35mm so I'm used to such a wide framing mindset, even 6x7 is hard for me sometimes.

I just picked up a 6x6 back for my Mamiya RZ67, perhaps I'll go try that out and be converted

I shot with several Mamiya 6 cameras and all of the lenses for years. I loved the 6 and the 6MF. I did not like the original Mamiya 7 at all. The 6 was incredibly expensive to produce. The original 7 was well built but did not have to collapsable feature which In my opinion cheapened the camera considerably. The lenses for bot are superior... The 50 for the Mamiya 6 was simply wonderful. Its a shame that the 6 is no longer repairable.....
