Mamiya 645/80mm f/1.9 devotees?

After an absence from RFF, I'm pleased to see this thread back on the first page! I'm back in the US now, and with a stack of negs and a scanner on hand, I intend to add to it shortly.

The camera is still new to me, so I'm learning how to get reliable results with the 2.8. I realize I could also get the 1.9, but at this point if I was going to get another lens it would probably be the 45mm or 55mm (if you have any experience with either please chime in).

I also have the 80/2.8 for my 645E, and I use the Zeiss Jena 50mm, 65mm, and 180mm lenses made in Pentacon 6 mount.

Good to see you back, now post some recent stuff with the 1.9 so I can be motivated to shoot mine too ;)

I just sold mine. I could only get an occasional photo in focus when shooting wide open. I tried two different screens, and I have no trouble focusing cameras wide open up. I shot with a 58mm f/1.2 lens on a 35mm SLR camera that got me 95% in focus success wide open. No sure what was wrong with my Mamiya but it did not work out.

It's been a year since I used the Mamiya and the 80mm f1.9, but I brought it out for a Sacto trip a few weeks back. THis was the best shot of the day hands down. Though I think I was shooting at f2.8
