Mamiya 7, show me yours

Thanks Brian, it's very kind of you to say so.

The top one was shot on Fuji Acros 100 and the bottom one on Fuji Neopan 400.
It's a crying shame that Fuji have stopped producing Neopan 400 in 120 size, it has been my favourite film for a long time. I've now started trying Ilford HP5 instead.

Both were developed in Rodinal (1+50) and scanned on an old Epson Perfection 4870 as 16 bit greyscale Tiffs. I would like a better scanner, but 120 is pretty forgiving and the Epson does a decent job.

After scanning I post process in Lightroom. Mostly just to adjust the exposure and contrast and do a little dodging and burning.

Here's one I did recently shooting after dark using a tripod and the 50mm lens. I pushed HP5 to 1600 and developed in Rodinal.

Yea Bob, I feel your pain about Neopan 400. That was my favorite film as well for years before the discontinuation. I too have been using HP5 as well as Tri-x, though neither are Neopan 400 but somewhat close. Thanks for your posts and info! Fantastic!

I didn't think I had any photos of my actual cameras but then I remembered this one shot I took to send to this person that makes inserts for me as I needed another one (two 7II's and some glass):

Here a pic of mine, which is currently at Precision Camera in Chicago because I was too eager to adjust the rangefinder myself... and messed it up.

This was shot on Fujifilm T64, with a Sears KS-2 (nice SLR camera that is essentially a Ricoh XR-7 with Pentax-K mount). Lighting was just one 3200K Tungsten 500W bulb.

For what it's worth,"Ken Rockwell" makes mention of it on his site under the
"Mamiya 7" heading. You could be going where angels fear to tread!

How does one adjust the RF oneself? Also, how's that 50? Very nice camera, too bad about the adjustments.

Well, there is actually a thread here on rangefinderforum.com that explains how to adjust the rangefinder yourself:
http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1631

Apparently some have done so successfully... well, I haven't. The rangefinder adjustment at Precision Camera Chicago does not cost that much (considering the cost of the camera and lenses...), it's around $150 plus shipping. They also update the rangefinder mechanism to a more robust version (which I believe the later Mamiya 7IIs got at the factory) if necessary. Further, they will ask you to send in your lenses as well, and make sure that they are also matching your camera when focusing.

I don't have the everything back yet, but I am confident that they will do a good job. Many others have reported that they do.

Regarding the 50mm lens, it's fantastic. Really great contrast and colors, and extremely sharp (I shot Provia 100F with it). I prefer the 50mm over the 43mm, just because I like the slightly less super-wide angle.
