My experience (soon 13 years) with the Mamiya 7II is completely different from yours, except for the absolutely stunning quality images 😉 It has been by far my most reliable camera during that time. And for the cold, there is that special battery case...
Same here! 8 years of use. Most reliable by far.
A few years ago got the 50mm to go with my 80mm.
The curtain mechanism is sturdy enough, I've never felt it giving in.
Only thing, I sometimes forget to release the pin when I'm done switching lenses. Need to work that muscle memory.
And in my experience perfectly reliable in freezing temperatures. No brittle metal getting stuck, no battery drainage or anything.
I think I've only changed the battery twice in these 8 years.
