Cal, with a 50mm lens attached it serves as a pretty good microscope!
I take it that with a 50, all three tubes should be in place, so that it is as close as possible to the negative (for 135 size)
I also assume that the eyepiece is magnifying the view to serve as a focussing aid, and I should NOT be able to see the edges of the mask.
For the APS sensor with 1.5 crop I would need a 50/1.5 = 33 mm lens, so I tried a 35 - it is not possible to focus, it would need to be much close than the gadget permits.
Looks like I need a full frame sensor - hey, the Leica SL looks nice!
