I'm sticking with my M2, but I like the concept. If I shot digital (and had the money), I would definitely consider this. As mentioned above, a monochrome variant would be interesting as well.
As for folks not understanding the appeal, sometimes there are certain intangibles, whether gimmicky or not, that, while not seemingly logical, comport well with one's personal preference, rendering debate rather moot.

Nice to have REAL choices and it seems Leica is one company that keeps supplying those.
I'm sure Leica will sell as many as they build. This doesn't necessarily mean the same thing as in the conventional business sense. 🙂

Right, it's just not for you... and its not making the act of finding content and framing it any harder. And does there need to be a practical reason or can it just be a personal preference?

I cannot find the info online, but one would hope the camera was meterless or is the photographer stuck with center-weighted metering and no option to switch it off. That would not jive too well with the LCD-free design.

Well, flicking through the manual for the M-D it seems like you have to format the SD card before inserting it into the camera... :bang:

Or people are allowed to think whatever they want to... if someone likes a camera without an LCD, then there's nothing wrong with that. Of course it is marketing, but some people have been waiting for this. if it helps someone just go out and focus on framing / content, then cool. Me? nope... I'll take an LCD camera.

With a sensor providing as much dynamic range as color negative film, the lack of LCD does not seem much of a problem; i.e. just like using a film M - seems to me that is exactly what they are going for.
But not sure the M.240 sensor gets there.

More seriously, I had the same thought, partly because the XP2 sensor and iso calibration seems to be 'getting there' in terms of exposure resilience. I'm not sure the current Leica sensor is there yet.
Have to admit it looks great, though I'm more pleased the MP has reappeared and may still be available.
