sorry but the summaron is worse than the ultron? they are both gorgeous renderings but the summaron ltm is my dream

All the reviews say it's only sharp in the center and it flares a lot, that's why I'm saying

Thanks, I tried it but I'm not experienced enough to make a proper evaluation! I guess it is the first version, I bought it as soon as it was imported in Italy. # is 9040479!

since It is probably too expensive to get the lens repaired and you can‘t see the haze, the lens should be perfectly fine. You got nothing to lose 😉

Erik, this in my LTM Ultron, which version do you think it is? Serial is 9050xxx. I have used this lens a lot, it performs well, and the rear-most elements do not appear to be hazy. I have taken this lens to bits a couple of times to clean off dust from various travels.

Yes, this is the same type of knurling as my lens has. Must be the second series. My lens is however black, serial 9450XXX. The first series has flat "increments" but this one and mine have curved scalloping (grips) on the focusing ring.

Thanks! I was wondering, because this is my favorite "modern" 35mm RF lens; I have a number of vintage zeiss, canon and nikkor LTMs, but no modern lenses aside from this in LTM and the CV 35mm f1.4 in M-mount

It is a great lens, it is difficult to find a fast 35mm with LTM. This one is almost as good as the later M-version (wich has however a more solid feel).

I wouldn't mind a late model M mount summaron 35 2.8 (without goggles). however from internet lore i have heard the ltm one is better but that's neither here nor there. i have an ultron f2 version ii coming in tomorrow but no way it could compare. looking forward to testing it out though--its rendering seems a little harsh from what i've seen online.

The Elmar 35mm f3.5, Summaron 35mm f3.5 and the Summaron 35mm f2.8 are all very good lenses. The Elmar, as old as it is, is stunning, provided a good condition. The Summarons are as good or better. But these are all slow lenses. The faster 35mm lenses (from f2) are all a lot more expensive.
All Summaron 35mm f2.8 lenses are optically the same. The goggles are only useful on an M3. The M3 has no 35mm frames built in the viewfinder, the goggles turn the 50mm frame into a 35mm frame.

The problem is that at this point, one would get such a lens for "character" only, since the new ones literally obliterate them in terms of performance, and paying even more than the modern ones for character is not always justifiable.

If I had the money and I could find the lens Raid mentioned, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
