I don't think your attacker is an equipment geek Cal! 😉
John,
My new Linhof's would annoy you. LOL. Of course they both sport grips, and are big and heavy. True "Monsters," I say, and all with factory supplied accessories.
It seems the Linhof's are not commonly seen, especially on the street, yet the camera stands out in a bold way that I like. It seems to cause engagement with people, and I was asked by one girl, "Is that a Polaroid camera?" The model disguised as the hostess at Lorelie's also asked me if I needed a model. This gal is unbelievably tall and skinny. Just call me shorty.
So I mention to Christian that over the years I have not seen any Linhof's "In the wild" and Christian reported that likely they are only used in the studio due to their bulk and weight. I brought up that the first impression might be that the guy shooting a Linhof in NYC for street might be a little crazy or unstable, and Christian's response was, "Their first impression might be right."
No one likes to hassle, fight or attack someone crazy, because anything can happen. James Brown once said, "I don't know Kung-Fu, but I know crazy."
So I started and began my Linhof free gym membership and have been carrying a Baby Linhof around the past few days. My tech IV rigged out with a 120 back weighs about 7 and a half pounds. I think the Tech V with the 53 Biogon will likely be very close to eight pounds, so it is like carrying a gallon of milk.
I now can do 10 chin-ups in a set. My goal is 15 in a set. Not bad for a 59 year old.
Maggie this morning reports to have 130K followers. Negociations are ongoing for another trip to China. There are trips this month to Portugal, London for meetings, parties and a shoot; and as they pronounce in New Mexico Mad-Rid for Madrid for a magazine shoot. Pretty much May is booked.
For some reason Maggie has been featured in many foreign versions of Vogue, Harpers, and Elle magizine, but there is a report of her being in the May USA Harpers.
So my current idea is to take advantage of Maggie's absence to shoot and develop mucho film. In another thread on the Fuji GFX a point was made about the cost of IQ, and how film is mucho bang for the dollar. So instead of going digital medium format, I'm going medium format film to take it to the next level. For color slides, and for B&W 120 negatives.
I think wet printing will one day be in my future.
Trying to keep you up to date. Since you left I have been a little crazy with the Linhof Disease.
BTW what time zone are you in?
Cal
