Some users prefer SC, single coated or blue, coated lenses for B&W over "modern" MC, multicoated and tan, lenses. Modern SC lenses are a special item sold at a premium.
I have two Xenar lenses. One is single coated, and one is multi-coated. I shoot black and white only.
I prefer the single coated lens because the reach into the shadows is almost a stop better, and the overall contrast to the image is reduced. This makes a negative that is easy to expose and print.
I have the CV 40mm/f1.4 MC and i love the hell out of it. I have the crazy idea to get the SC for another body. then load color film on the MC lens and B/W on the SC lens. Am I crazy or what?
