i just rang silvanos. the pricing was good...$3.09 on tri-x for a 100 rolls but they couldn't give me any idea of how long it would take. 2 months - 3months. could come in 5 rolls at a time. too bad actually as that would have been perfect!

actually know that i think of it it's a bleeding tragedy! $3.09 a roll (canadian) for tri-x?!?!
if they weren't so bloody wishy washy on the phone and put some effort into getting it shipped regular they'd have a good bit of business on their hands.

Sorry guys im a bit slow on the uptake this week
Todd the Yashy 635 TLR has the Yashikor 80mm f/3.5 on it.
The film on the portrait of Emma was Ilford Delta 400 with the Yashica @ f/3.5 and I think 1/50th ( off top of my head).

What about Henry's?
henrys has the most "out of touch" pricing in canada.

Late adopter.
WW HQ of frugalphotographer.com is in Calgary, but don't know if they ship from there as well (you could ask). They sell Shanghai GP3 in 120, a film I happen to like, and the quantity price is two bucks a roll. (I have no connection to them.)

thanx pmcc and i checked out the site. unfortunately ordering via that site defaults me to adorama or b&h and doesn't work out to be very "frugal".
i really do hope that any folks up here north of the border, who still shoot film, drop silvano's a line as a freestyle type affair up here is desperately needed. they obviously have the channels they just need a bit of motivation. at their pricing it would actually be cheaper for me to buy tri-x here than via freestyle, the down side is they don't seem too interested in the business right now.

come on canucks, send a message to sivano's.
MEDIUM FORMAT... LONG MAY IT LIVE could be in the subject line.

Sounds like a job for a USA friend close to the border. Pop over the border and post a 100 rolls from time to time.

i have one of those friends.
due to some hidden, and not entirely understood, mechanics in my brain i would prefer to support a local'ish business.
failing that it's freestyle.

AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! I cracked. Just sold my RD-1 and bought myself a Mamiya 7ii body from popflash on ebay. Good price too when using the 10% bing.com cashback thingy. Now I just need to purchase a lens.
And a Coolscan 9000..... And.... ()@$^*!!!! I think I will enjoy testing out double exposures, something I couldn't do with the 7. Lovely shots everybody.

Ahh, but I already know the results that I shall see. I used the Mamiya 7 for about a month before I decided I couldn't afford the film and processing. I've missed MF ever since.
Here is my now passed grandfathers handy work. Man, did those fish taste good!

You won't regret it. It's never cheap but working in tandem with digital you can shoot fewer frames but get a much higher hit rate than is typical with 35mm. Nothing I've ever done with photography has been as much fun as shooting MF.

the 80 and 50mm is an ideal pairing... thats what i have and i dont feel the need to get another. but you might want to start with the 65mm, as it seems perfect for everyday shooting purposes.

I've used the 80mm and it is a superb lens. And AMAZINGLY sharp. I am watching the auction site and most likely will pick up the lens that costs the least. Not many sell the 80mm, so I just might get the 65mm first.

Just got around to developing some Tri-X from the Mamiya 7II today... Had been back on small format for a while and forgot just how big a difference there is...
This was out with a a 65mm and the 43mm...
