OK, i'm not too familiar with all the optical laws but...
If I were to fram an image at a distance of 5' using a standard lens, then would this distance remain the same if I were to switch to a medium format camera using the equivalent length. To be consistent with the aspect, say i'm using a 6x9 camera.

It would stay the same.
If you remember your school geometry, think about similar (or do I mean congruent?) triangles, e.g. 38 Biogon on 44x66 = 21mm Biogon on 24x36.

I've noticed that DOF, FOV, etc. get mixed up so I wanted to make sure. I'll probably look into all those optical diagrams and formulas so that I can understand things better.
