Meeting in MONTREAL

First report on the Montreal meeting. I get to do this since we ended up 3 blocks from my place! 😉

I met BJ at the Metro station. I recognised him from the pictures I had seen on his site. We waited for artz until 4:30PM (where were you?) then decided to get rolling (there was an Albertan joke about 4:20 for those who get it).

BJ is definitely a nice fellow. We had a great time walking around. We walked on Mont-Royal St. towards St-Laurent. I showed him the special gothic shops and we met a friend of mine who shows up sometimes in my pictures. Then we walked south on St-Laurent. I showed him some of the local curiosities like the headstones factory (pictures coming soon) and La Vieille Europe (a fine grocery with lots of european cheese and goodies).

We kept walking down to Sherbrooke St. and turned East until Laval avenue. That's when we got in touch with Derek. We went to Bières et Compagnie where we had "all you ca eat" mussels with beer(S).

Derek showed up with his MP and 50 Cron. BJ and I had enough CV gear to fight back. 😉 BJ had 2 R's, a 50 Nokton, the 75/2.5 and the 21/4. I had my R2, 35/1.7, 75/2.5 and 15/4.5.

Derek is very nice guy too (even with the MP he flashed!). We had a great time chatting about all sorts of things ranging from jobs to the weird stuff I shoot. The mood was definitely cheerful.

BJ sold us one of his wrist straps each. Wrist straps that is, not strap-ons! 😀 Nice ones.

This meeting experience was great. It's definitely something to try again.

Don't worry Joe, your secrets are safe. 😉

Pictures coming later.

Just wanted to chime in as well: Definitely had a great time, and Marc is a very friendly and interesting guy. It was a lot of fun to tour around a slightly different part of town with someone who knew it more intimately.

Derek is also a very nice guy, and I must admit I was dreadfully jealous of his MP and 'cron. I also have pictures, but honestly we won't be seeing them for a while. I leave on Monday for London, and don't have the time or opportunity to get them processed and scanned before I go... I'll have a big batch from London, too, and maybe dump them upon the world all at once. 😀

Cheers!

I was wondering where this thread had gone! (My RFF fu is not that strong - yet.)

Been busy the last couple of days, as I mentioned to both BJ and Marc when we met a couple of nights ago. Both of you are definitely fun to hang out with. Marc, hope I didn't come across as a prude because I'm really not. 😉 On another note, I think I've wiped enough of your drool from my MP that it won't need a CLA soon. 😀 And thanks again for that tip about Photo St-Denis. It's one of those places I'd never have thought about going into without a recommendation.

BJ, hope you have a blast during your travels, and I do hope you eventually land in Montreal again!

It was really fun meeting at least a couple of the faces on RFF, and I'm hoping we can do this again some time!

You didn't, even though some of the jokes or topics were pretty wild. 😉

Glad I could help. If we had met a few days earlier, I would have added some silicon lube left over from the latex hands-on seminar for a nice shiny look! 😀

Yes, it definitely doesn't look like a fine lab fromthe outside. It looks more like a small photo store for your typical Uncle Bob.

We'll have to do that again for sure.

Hey guys, sorry I didn't show up for the meeting. Got into a little accident (hit by a car riding my bike down rue Mont-Royal). Nothing really serious, a few bruises, but, more importantly, the Canonet's ok - that little thing's built like a tank, I swear (unlike my bike 🙁 ).

Glad to see that you guys had fun and hope we organize something like this again.

Yikes! I hope everything's fine like you say. We should definitely do this again. We could arrange something with Derek.

Here are two shots from our meeting. The first is BJ taking a shot of a bar. Notice the nice theater across the street that caught my attention. Thought it would make a nice background... 😉

The second is a picture of Derek (left) and BJ (right) inside Bières et Compagnie on Saint-Denis, corner of Marie-Anne. Luckilly, the waitress gave us a table by the window.

Marc, nice pictures! May I ask you what's your film/developer combination?
