metal hood for new 35?

I suppose the only difference would be the vents would restore a small fraction of the frame when using the lens on the X-Pro 1 and soon to be released X-Pro 2.
what I meant to say was what difference does the lens hood make regarding extraneous light, when compared to the one supplied in the box. It looks a bit like the one I bought for my X100s when I owned one?

I sold the 35/1.4 and bought the 35/2 because of the significant improvement in AF technology and because of its lower footprint. I minor benefit is AF usage with the X100T and the X-T1 - 35/2 combo are very similar. This make switching between the two cameras easier.

That's yet another conflicting observation of the AF speed of the 35/2. My XT1 with the 35/1.4 smokes my X100T in the AF department as long as pdaf is engaged. If your's is similar to an X100T, it suggests the 35/2 is slower than the 35/1.4.

I am pleased I am sitting this one out and will stick to my 35/1.4.

i always misread the title of this thread as "mental hood for new 35mm" ... whatever that should be.

That's a nice looking rig, Jamie. If I may digress, on the X-Pro are you seeing a significant focus speed improvement over the 1.4.

John

Sorry, John, I just came across your question tonight.

The lens focuses a little bit faster than the 35/1.4. Focusing speed has never been something I pay too much attention to, as I'm rarely in need of it. The thing I do notice is that the 35/2 is much quieter focusing, and you don't feel the focusing mechanism working so much, like you do with the 35/1.4. So the X-Pro1 plus 35/2 feels 'all of one piece', like everything is working together solidly. The x-pro1 plus 35/1.4 has more rattling movement going on when focusing, which always feels a bit disconcerting to me.

Got mine on silver lens.

It may look even better once it got some beausage marks or wabi-sabi or whatever you wanna call it, matching my beaten up X-E1. ;) One side benefit is that my X-E1 can sit on table without falling in.

I've not been able to find any store that stocks in in the uk so far

I originally had one ordered from digitalrev. I think they say in stock but source whatever way possible afterwards. I got delay notice after a week of waiting, saying extra 2-3 weeks on top of original international shipping time.

Amazon (US) finally got stock so I canceled the original order and got it from Amazon instead. Not sure about UK but maybe finally this hood is getting out of Japan now.

Jamie,

Gotcha. Thanks for the clarification. Everyone knows those vents would make the camera more stealthy like the racing stripes add a solid 5 hp at the wheels! ;)

In this video, the photographer has the vented hood on his silver 35/2. Looks good to me. :)

So... can this hood be had with racing stripes, preferably in the faster red color?
