Metal hood for Rokkor 40mm from ebay?

Hi all,

I'd like to get a metal vented hood from ebay for my M-Rokkor 40mm (CLE version), but I'm not sure which one should I go for. If somebody went the same way recently please share your experience, does it vignette and does it bring anything and also a link if you have a good experience.

I do not own a M-Rokkor anymore, but when I did I bought a vented metal hood from "heavystar" . If you search his name here on the forum you will find that many dozen RFFers here had a good experience with him.

There was no vignetting, as far as I could tell. Mine was the "tapered" one, I think.

In real life I found the m-Rokkor not to be overly flare prone, so I mostly used a single 40.5mm filter ring with carefully removed glass (I bought the el-cheapo- UV-filter from heavystar expressly for this purpose, costs about three dollars or so) as a mini-shade for everyday purposes. But for the small sum heavystar charges, I think you cannot go wrong with one of his 40.5mm shades.

I've had 2, one that didn't taper and the hood section was too close to the aperture ring for easy adjustments. Later got the tapered one where the hood section was further from the aperture ring. Works perfectly except for the cheesy "for leica" text painted on the hood.

I have the Heavystar, vented hood with no taper. The hood stops at the edge of the frame and doesn't intrude at all. This is with a Minolta CLE body. Very happy with mine. On the M7 you need the tapered hood for good frame clearance. No vignetting with either hood on either body. You can remove any unwanted lettering with a 600 grit (or higher) sand paper.
