Metz SCA Flash for Leica M7/8/9

Please don't flame me but flash is useful.
Does anyone have any experience with metz sca flashes? I plan to use on my M7 and Sony DSLR so SCA makes sense..

Your two best options are Metz 44 and 54. These are very good flashes, but they are very bulky and weighty on M. They work perfectly on film M, but there is no TTL on M8, only A and M mode.

That's wrong. You can get TTL with a 54MZ-3 or -4 with the Leica SCA module (latest version). They call it GNC, not TTL. Same thing. Works great.

If you will want to use bounce flash off the ceiling using the flash on the camera body and in a vertical position, you will need a flash with tilt and swivel head. If you use the flash off camera with a cable, no problem.

My Metz 44MZ-2 only has tilt, which doesn't matter since I use it only on square format cameras (Rollei GX and 66SE). The next model up has tilt and swivel.

Yup need to have swivel =). ANyone has seen the Leica F58? flash? compared to the leica?

I bought a Metz 54 MZ4 and a SCA 3502 adapter. It will not flash when set on TTL, but as has been said, it works when set on GNC. The only problem is that GNC is only available when the flash is first set to M (manual) as per the instructions. On that setting, the flash recognizes the lens focal length, but I only get a decent exposure with the lens set wide open (in this case 35mm @ f2). If I set the aperture any smaller, it under exposes which is not surprising since the flash was set to M as well as GNC.

How do I get it to operate as a TTL so the flash adjusts it's power as the TTL in-camera meter dictates?😕
