MG-1 Shutter button stays down

I have a Yashica MG-1, have installed a battery adapter and checked the shutter. The shutter seems to be operating properly, and the exposure lights also operate properly. The shutter button will stay down after the shutter cycles and will come back up when the film advance lever is moved slightly. It seems to have some mechanical detent holding it down. This happens almost all the time. It does not seem to affect camera operation, but it does not seem normal. Any thoughts on what is causing this?

Could be part of the system to let you know to advance the film to the next frame and when you do. It releases the shutter button to take the next shot.

I did a test with my GX model and buttom springs back up, but little pressure on it. Once I advance the film. Requires a bit more pressure to push down

Could be a spring may be worn out or missing which is why it doesn't pop back up

If the camera is working fine otherwise. Not something major to worry about, but for a actual answer. Will have to wait for someone with the same camera to reply

Sounds like the POD is deteriorated and sticky, which would hold the shutter button down until the advance lever is moved. Really not anything else that could cause that...

I've had a couple of CCN cameras with the same issue, but they don't use a POD. In one of them I found that a small lever in the winding mechanism had become bent slightly and was not allowing the button to pop back up, I simply bent it back into shape with some needle-nose pliers and it worked fine.

My Electro 35 does this as well, in my case it just feels 'sticky' and winding on to the next frame seems to free it and it pops back up.

Maybe I should check the POD (I get the clunk when winding so I assumed it was ok).

This happens because the sticky POD is holding the shutter arm and the contact arm together. When you wind the film, it releases them both allowing the shutter button to come back up. This will also give you the "clunk", even though things aren't right.
