Miley Cyrus' Nikon N80 on ebay (currently $14,700) ... I may lose my lunch!

He still runs it................

He does?

and here I thought he was hiding away working on his library and dodging his VP's invitations to drunken hunting expeditions.

ps I think you got the wrong guy in mind. the coke addict was the one with the DUIs, not the black guy.

I don't like her music but hating on her? kind of pathetic IMO.

save your anger for someone stupid who actually makes a difference like a certain coke addict who ran our country a few years ago.

... I can say what I like at this point, cos I'm already on his ignore list 😀

Mention of Miss Cyrus's camera does give rise to a question that I've often pondered and which I haven't found the answer to: why were Nikon film cameras like hers called N80 etc. for the market in USA, but F80 and so forth elsewhere? Can anyone shed light on this and/or point me in a direction to find the answer please.

Don't be silly. No one is "hating" Ms Cyrus.
People here are making fun of the crazy people who are bidding up the camera to $80,000.

EDIT: I take your remark about "old" as a compliment, correct ?

Roger,

the term "hating" does not imply actual hatred, but rather the denigration of a successful person for ridiculous reasons.

such as a person not liking Elle Degeneress because she is gay or taking issue with a Paris Hilton's lack of traditional intelligence signals.
Hmmmm.... then what are you left with for actual "hatred", after you have devalued "hating"?

Cheers,

R.

A somewhat unknown country singer from Canada is Ian Tyler. Google him. He was Ian of Ian and Silvia. Google and listen to Navaho Rug, as well as any others that are free online. He's not bad.

You mean Ian Tyson.

A real unknown Canadian Country and Western singer was Wilf Carter.

No one seems to be mentioning the N80 ... we are a camera forum, no? 😀

My question is, how old is the N80 -- she had to have bought it used, right? I guess she earns points in my book simply for owning a decent film camera -- shows a certain amount of discernment on her part. (But this will not increase the market value of N80s generally, alas.)

Right on.

By the way, that term "hating" drives me crazy. When people criticize they're called haters, which of course is the way the person being criticized (or their allies) make the critics out to be mean-spirited and their criticisms thus are devalued.

As for Ms. Cyrus -- I didn't see the performance in question, and don't intend to. Don't know a thing about her music or acting. But I do know that there's no such thing as bad publicity....

Well helps denote whether a camera is gray market or brought in through correct channels, also helps define the pro models (f) from serious amateur and amateur cameras. Canon, Nikon, and several other makers do it as well. Rebels are Kiss models for example. They go with what they think will market the best

Six days left and highest bid is currently $90,100. That about the amount of money you would pay for a rather pimped up house in the north of Sweden, maybe two houses in liveable condition.
