Read Star Island by Carl Hiaasen. Cherry Pye, aka Cheryl Bunterman, bears absolutely no relation to Miley Cyrus but if the latter has ever read the book she might have nightmares about some of the ideas in it. It's VERY, VERY funny. And it's about the whole celebrity "scene" and a "paparrazo".

The cameras being cheaper where? In my experience, US prices were about a quarter to a third lower than in Europe or Japan - so the market protection probably worked the other way around.

There used to be a few NYC dealers who'd sell grey market products for less, un warranted (or warrantied by themselves)

Same thing happend to a local Noctilux I was watching on eBay Australia recently.

It was a no reserve auction and two people had bid on it and the price was at $2,500 with three days to go.
Reading the description the seller had stated that if you wanted to by it now at the "but it now price" (there was no buy it now price in the listing) to contact him directly to arrange payment and delivery outside of eBay.
Which means it was a scam. It was on my watch list for about 12 hours and then just disappeared.
I'm guessing someone reported it to eBay and they pulled the listing.
