Not sure I understand why so many are so vehemently against the idea of auto-ISO (which essentially the OP is looking for). What are you afraid of? Is this an affront to your Leica manhood?
Surely having a feature that allowed you to set in a particular f-stop and exposure but allowed for the ISO to dynamically change would be a useful facility for low light situations where you're shooting wide open but don't want to have to manually reset the ISO for all shots.
Silly me, I thought that the point of automation was to make it easier for customers to take good pictures ...
Now if the question is would I rather see the R&D budget spent on this vs perfecting AWB or high ISO noise performance ... well that IS another discussion.
