Hi,
I recently disassembled a Minolta 7s Seiko LA shutter to fix stuck blades. Most of the blades except one came out as glued together mass. One blade, I believe #1 was displaced when I separated the two halves of the shutter. After I got the blades apart, I discovered there were 6 blades - one extra. I've fixed a number of Canonet Copal shutters with the spacers but never a shutter that has extra blades. I know that some shutters have the extra blades - but the purpose of the extra blades is unclear to me. I took a photo of the blade positions before I removed them from the shutter so I know the order - I need to know where the extra blade goes. I could not find a repair manual for this version of the camera. I have the manual for the 7sII - but the shutter is different and has 8 blades - 3 extra - the first 3 blades are duplicated. I'm looking for insights for the blade order for the 7s shutter.
Thanks

OK, after poking around with Google I found a Hi-Matic 9 repair manual on the Yahoo minoltarangefinders group - fortunately, a tech had drawn an diagram of blade order on one of the pages - the first blade is the duplicated blade. I'm still unclear on the role of the duplicated blades, and why the 7sII has 3 duplicated blades.

Have you put it finally together? I had the same question for about 20 seconds in my head one month ago. I just placed the extra blade over the last one (the last one under the first one so it was in between). I did one roll and nothing special happened. Mine is Hi-matic 7.

No, not enough time - too much work. Blade #6 goes on top of the first blade. The first blade goes on the stud to the right of the self timer lever and the blades are installed counterclockwise.

I believe it's for extra support. Some shutters I've worked on have little stub blades along with the regular blades.
