Minolta A5

Fixed the jammed shutter on my Minolta A5 (£2 from a boot sale) today on my day off 😀

Now I can look through the lens properly, it has the ubiquitous "cleaning marks" 🙄 hovever I think it's worth persevering with it and cleaning the dust from the lens and sorting vertical alignment on the RF - if only because there aren't many images in the gallery from one. I think I'll run a test film through this weekend and see what happens.

The A5 is an amazing and vastly underrated camera. I have the version with the 1/1000s shutter and I like it more than the very similar Minolta AL; don't ask why, I really don't know. At any rate, the lens is incredibly sharp and the camera has a wonderful feel to it.

It does feel nice to use - the film advance is smooth and the shutter/apertures change smoothly. I'll have to see what effect the "cleaning marks" give, but it certainly feels a quality item. 🙂
