Minolta Dimage Scan Multi Pro & vuescan

Is the Minolta Dimage Scan Multi Pro a plug and play with vuescan.

I am strongly considering a Minolta Dimage Scan Multi Pro for my 120 film but want to run it on my windows 7 64 bit with 12 GB ram without going through a lot of complicated stuff. I do OK with a computer but start sweating when I see a whole list of things to do.

I run my LS-5000 with vuescan and love it. Also my V-750 and old canon FS4000US with vuescan.

I have had several friends recommend the Minolta Dimage Scan Multi Pro while others tell me to get the Nikon 9000 instead. What are your thoughts on this?? More than one person told me the Minolta would pull more detail out of the shadows. I have no idea.

My V-750 does a decent job with 120, but I have my mind made up, I want a dedicated film scanner for my 120 film.

Some guidance would be appreciated.

"If you're using Windows and you've installed a Minolta driver, VueScan's built-in drivers won't conflict with this. If you haven't installed a Windows driver for this scanner, VueScan will automatically install a driver."

I have been using Vuescan for over a decade with Linux and the Scan Dual III and IV and I'm quite pleased. However, I'm not a Windows guy and I don't have the Multi Pro.

a couple of years ago I was using this scanner. If I remember correctly Minolta never offered a 64 bit driver. Vuescan is probably the only choice to get it running on a 64bit machine.
 
I have the MultiPro as well. I found a hacked INF file that let me install the Minolta driver in Windows 7 64 bit, so I could run the scanner with the Minolta scan software, Silverfast, and Vuescan. I preferred the results from Vuescan so when I went to Windows 10 I left the others behind.

I have used vuescan for many years and would be lost with anything else now.
My old Canon FS4000US works great with vuescan and produces nice results, but the Nikon 5000 is so much faster.

I was going back and forth between the multi pro and a Nikon 9000 but heard so many good things about the multi pro that I went with that. Hope I made the right choice. I will know next week. I hope!!!
 
Nothing but good things to say about Multipro/ Vuescan combination. Sometimes (seldom) the scanner "hangs" after scanning half an image. The best remedy for that, I found is to run system restore on PC. that takes care of the problem.

I seem to have the same problem but I believed it was the scanners fault since my firewire port on the Multi Pro is not working anymore.
Anyone that wants this scanner be aware that no service or parts are available anymore!

I started with the V700 (bad for 35mm), then the plustek (banding issues), than the nikon V wich is fine but only 35mm. After that I bought the multi pro that I believed it was the best scanner ever!

Last week because of the issues with the Multi Pro, I was luck enough to find a Imacon Precision III scanner. The seller gave me a second Imacon Photo scanner for just 200€ more so I brought both.

I was shocked to find out how the Imacon Photo is so good. At 3200dpi it is even sharper than the Minolta and produces very natural colors and a lovely very clean grain. With just one pass, the ccd noise is much lower than with the Minolta.

Have not tested the Imacon precision III properly yet nor I find the need to do so :p
