Minolta SRT's -- Gotta Love 'Em.

Thanks to this thread I have been kind of obsessed with SRTs lately. I knew I had a SRT 101 and promptly dug it out to play with. This evening I was looking through a bin of photo stuff trying to find something else when much to my surprise I found I have another SRT 101 that I didn’t even remember about. This is a later model than my first one and there is no mirror lock up. Seems to be in excellent shape other than the rewind lever is missing the plastic tip. That's pretty true. I think I have six at least. Very inexpensive and they work -- even the meters seem to keep going, which isn't true for other companies' offerings of the same era.
 
I've stopped at two. Honest. I can't even justify buying a black 102 which is the first one I ever used thanks to my long ago neighbor who lent me his. I don't shoot film any more, even though I have a couple rolls stashed in my cabinet. I MIGHT end up with another if it comes attached to a lens I just can't say no to however.
 
Just curious, do the SRTs accept standard LR44 batteries? Or do you have to adjust the exposure for the increased voltage on those batteries?

But because the battery compartment is made to fit the larger 625 batteries, you will need some sort of tight-fitting washer to make the electrical contact.

In my opinion, the best option is to use a C.R.I.S. MR-9 adapter with a 386 battery. The adapter adjusts the voltage so that the camera thinks an original mercury battery is installed. No need to adjust camera meter circuitry; adapter with 386 battery is the same size as the original mercury battery so no need for washers, spacers, etc. Has worked well for me with Minolta SRT's as well as several other cameras which took the original mercury battery. My last SR-T 101 purchased had a battery in it and it worked!
I've taken it out of course and have it in a bag with all the other batteries I've collected over the years.
 
I've been really enjoying shooting with my kangaroo skin SRT-100 last year and today I had a good session with the 85mm F1.7 MC Rokkor with Yellow Rokkor Filter and Original Hood. Collecting the extra bits that are correct era etc was a lot of fun. I still like the TomA Softie, and the 3D Printed SpeedGrip. Also original SRT Diopter for my eyesight and SRT Eyecup. Also I love the white official SRT Electroflash (the one in the Minolta Bible). I still prefer Eastman XX (been using D23 1:1 with great results). Also pushed HP5+ shooting at 1600, and processing in HC110 B for EI 3200. Great results! Using up a lot of ERA100 too in D23. Also great stuff.

I need to do some printing and scanning. Way behind in that regard
 
I'm continuing to exercise my SRT100 and SRT 101's, getting ready to bring the two SRM's into rotation. Using Eastman XX 5222 movie film in the SRM's, seems appropriate and I enjoy flexing the motor drives. And Ilford HP5+ at 1600, developed to EI 3200 in D23 1:1 is a winner for me in the SRT100.

Today I packed up my olde Domke F2, to make a HEAVY Press Bag. The SRM, the 21mm F2.8 MC, 24mm F2.8 MD, 35mm F1.8 MC, 58mm F1.2 MC, 85mm F1.7 MC, 100mm F2.5 MC, and finally, the 200mm F3.5 MC. So my olde Newspaper outfit. And the SRT-100 body as well, everything else fits in the Domke Bag. Plus a good amount of B&W film. Still need to print SRT negs it'll be warming up soon in my darkroom.
