I really like how that Rokkor 58mm f1.4 lens draws.

This is an old thread but I just picked up this kit simply for the lens. It's an Auto-Rokkor 58mm f1.4 Steel nose and pre-dates the MC lenses by a few years. It's a bit soft wide open which doesn't bother me at all as I'm looking for the out of focus highlights rendering.
The second picture was shot with the lens on a Fuji Xt1.

Thanks for the reminder I need to send in my 1.4/58 for repair as it's stuck wide open. I purchased it and a just CLA'ed SRT-101 back in 1996 and is the setup that returned me to film photography a few years back.

John Titterington fixes most Rokkors in the $25-$35 category and does a great job.

When at a local thrift store last weekend, a SRT-201 was found with mechanical bits floating around in the viewfinder, an inoperable aperture indicator and such. But the rest seemed fine and the price was appropriate for the condition.
It came home with me. And the test roll out through it turned out excellent.
So now it's sporting a heavily patina'd old 1.7/85mm with the hills and valley focus ring. I think it will be my SLR for when I'm concerned the conditions are iffy for a 35mm film camera. There are places my M4 and M3 simply do not go. But I do.
And in time it may get a full rebuild by the same guy who rebuilt my SRT-101 in 1996.

Thanks!
I have the 85mm f1.7 MD Rokkor, and it is my favorite lens.
I would dearly love to have a 58mm f1.2 MC Rokkor, but I actually use the normal focal length very little.

My first 35mm camera was an SRT-101 that I bought in late 66 or 67. It had the 58 1.4 which to this day I think was one of the best normals I've ever owned. I added a 200 3.5 and 300 and planned to add a 28 but switched to Leicas. I've been tempted to pick up one with the 1.4 for nostalgia sake.

Don,
I came back to Minolta SRT's for nostalgic reasons, and then decided to change back over to them. I sold all of my exotic expensive Leicas and RF Canons and I have not regretted it. Then I could easily afford to put together the dream Minolta system I wanted when I was younger. Now I am a happy Guy.
Minolta glass is simply the finest. No wonder they teamed up with Leitz.
