So you use that rather than the meter in the camera?

Yep. No fussing, it's fast, and I find it works, I tend to concentrate more on composition and lighting when I am not calculating exposures, etc If I like it I may add another shot a stop or even two, to give myself a choice when I am in the darkroom. Works every time

This is my family's Minolta SRT-101 with a 100mm f3.5 Rokkor lens. My father purchased it in 1969, my sister used it in high school as a yearbook photographer and I also used it as a yearbook photographer, until I got a Nikon FTN. This camera led me to the decision to become a professional photographer, attending Brooks Institute earning a BFA degree, and employment as an Industrial/Scientific photographer.

Minolta SR-1s with 28mm f3.5 Rokkor lens. This is one of the prettiest cameras around.
I am waiting on the post a black SR-1 - currently stuck between England and Scotland. I am looking for a matching 50mm of that era.

XX Exposure Guide by Nokton48, on Flickr
When I go outside without meter I use this exposure guide. It works well for me in practice. Need a meter when the light starts to drop to do accurate measurement
Awesome. Thank you! I like the attention to shadow types. Very helpful.

Hey Cary, when were you at Brooks?
I was there in the early '70s. After moving over from Montecito to the Riviera campus I became a motion picture major.

Very nice rig and you still have it? Very cool. I really enjoy picking up these old cameras again. They work just as well as when they did back then.
That 100mm F3.5 MC must have come before my 100mm f2.5 MC. I am finding myself enjoying the earlier lenses.Beefier construction. I have a 100mm F2 that would look good on the SR-1 or SR-7. The aperture doesn't work on that one, I'm getting it CLA'ed. It is a cult lens really. A nice soul gave it to me even paid the shipping

Yes, I still have this rig, the photo is about six months old.I received the body back from my nephew two years ago. I am considering sending the SRT body to John Tillerington for a CLA. The 100mm f3.5 did come before the F2 lens and was produced first as a non metered version then as a MC lens. I picked up the lens about two years ago and really like the small size and weight.

I've wanted this lens since I was a teenager and now I'm 63. This is the SRT vintage era lens as shown in the "Minolta System Handbook" by Joseph Cooper. I will use this lens primarily with MLU SRT's and it will be interesting to use on my motorized SRM's which also have MLU. This is a tripod only lens but delightful to look through. Very telescope like.
The SRT100 is something I bought new when I was in High School. I could not afford any other lenses, so I bought a 2X. This one is recovered with Cameraleather Green Kangaroo. With the TomA Softy. The black hairtie is my idea. Got tired on making pix inside the camera bag :/
Camera has SRT Diopter and SRT Rubber Eyecup. SRT Cable Releases work the best!

Notice the SRT-era logo on the tripod platform. This lens is the same vintage as the SRT and hard to find. It's 80cm, later the Rokkor-X were designated 800mm. Serial number is correct as well; all original accessories are there, too. Also a silver wrench for changing the colored filters. The two waterhouse stops are part of the optical design, and one needs to be in place. The yellow filter I will prolly use all the time. My SRM's are 3.5FPS and have MLU.

I'd love to put that 80cm lens on my A9 or A7iii body to see what it can do digitally.
Thanks for sharing that with us.

Me too, but I don't shoot film any more so at most I'll just get them out of the cabinet and exercise the shutters some.

Yes! I can test it on my lowly Sony Nex3's with MD Adapters. Good idea!

I’ve posted mine individually before, but here they are in the Minolta Section of my Camera Room. The camera in the back is an olive green SRT-201 powder coated by my camera tech friend. Click image for higher resolution.

Ah... an SR-1. I bought a black one and still awaiting for it to arrive. It is possibly simlar version like yours (one of the first three ones without the meter bracket). I will post pics once i receive it.
