I used my GT a few weeks ago. I was on a work trip, and the tiny camera fit in my smallest pocket.I also took some photos in Pensacola on the same roll. Some of the photos are highly overexposed, but still look OK.
Photo taken from the tenth floor of a building. This is Pensacola Beach.
Dana took this photo of me with the GT:

I've owned five or six of these. Only one is in working condition. The others have problems with the shutter or the exposure system.
Nice little cameras, but I've found it to be a frustrating experience as a buyer.
However, they do have nice lenses, and they're very pocketable.

Hi Mike,
My camera has been working well for the past twenty years without any problems at all. Once, a friend in Germany asked me for two such cameras. I kept on buying through Shutterbug, and mailing them back to the sellers. The aperture blades would not open correctly.
Here, my eyes did not see the aperture set to 2.8! I then changed the setting, and the images came out also better looking. I used this camera for many years with slow speed Fujichrome slide film for beautifully exposed slides. Few P&S can handle slide film well.

Wow, Raid ... pretty slick images for the tiny camera!
I wouldn't mind having one of those myself.

Hi Dave,
If you find a working GT or similar model, go for it. The battery lasts forever, but it is a Mercury battery. The Minox has now an insert available to use readily available batteries.

Nicely done, Raid. I have a GT as well and the lens rivals anything I have. Your girls are sure growing up!

Hello Gerry,
Yes, the girls grow quickly, and they are wonderful.
They have to grow up. We also grow up,but we don't see it as clearly as with kids.
The lens is awesome, and having such a tiny "toy like" camera makes for a great street stealth camera. I often use it from the hip, set at f 11 and with 2X one stop extra exposure to account for streak light sources.

Nice photo's Raid. Dana takes a mean portrait. I see a Leica M in her hands in a few years.

Thanks, Paul.
The Minox GT and similar models are wonderful cameras that you can have in your pocket without feeling any weight at all. I like this camera a lot. The ASA setting can easily be adjusted for exposure compensation, when needed.
The GT has a 2X button. This is an aperture priority camera. The lens is a 35mm 2.8 or so. There is no RF in the camera.
Minox cameras are made in Wetzlar.
It is a mini-Leica.

Mine still works perfectly after 19 years. I've taken a lot of my favorite shots with this, mainly because I had it with me at the time. The lens is great, but the pocketability is also a cardinal virtue. Modern point and shoot digitals are smaller, and probably more versatile cameras, but I still have a soft spot for the Minox.

Yes, but can they handle slide film?

I carry one of several pocket 35mm cameras every day.
A Minox 35ML is among my favorites.

The ML is a newer model than the GT, isn't it? It is also excellent.

The 35ML is a very similar camera, i.e. same form factor and control layout.
Differences include LED meter readout, 2X backlight button, aperture-preferred
and program AE modes. It was designed to use the still-available PX28 battery.
Most important it has the same brilliant lens.

The GT also has the 2X backlight button and the aperture priority. I prefer the meter needle readout.

Hi, Raid...
What's with these tiny cameras anyway...I have an Olympus XA2 coming to carry around in hot weather and hopefully the soft character of the images will complement the Summarit on the M3 while providing a wider angle view.
But, remember the Minox EL I told you about? That is still on my mind for sharper images when I need/want those. What can you tell me about the difference in the EL and the GT?
