John: How can you say that a boat with fins that big is ugly? Beach party!
I still see them occasionally in the back of some old boatyards, generally in blue. Don't remember the maker.

That looks like an Amphicar, was that photo taken at the Wisconsin Dells, by any chance? Nice proto-mohawk on your uncle. 😀
Most likely a Glastron, or a copy of one - there were probably dozens of makers doing that general look at that time. An Amphicar wouldn't have an outboard - it had the engine under the hood!
A nice finned Glastron is quite an attention grabber these days (especially the hardtops), even if they aren't worth a lot in practicality (or $).
