It is truly amazing to see the vivid colors from 50+ year old Kodachromes! Wow!

This is not a contest, but here is a Kodachrome from 1946 of my wife's mother (much missed, at least by me):

Sorry, no it was a finned fiberglass outboard, probably the ugliest ever made
John: How can you say that a boat with fins that big is ugly? Beach party!
I still see them occasionally in the back of some old boatyards, generally in blue. Don't remember the maker.

I can't remember either, but when the air pocket bottom filled with water it was a real slug. You had to drive around for a while with the plug out. And, of course, in 1962 I was happy to be able to have use of any boat. So, ugly now not then, and lots of fun times in that baby.

That looks like an Amphicar, was that photo taken at the Wisconsin Dells, by any chance? Nice proto-mohawk on your uncle.![]()
Most likely a Glastron, or a copy of one - there were probably dozens of makers doing that general look at that time. An Amphicar wouldn't have an outboard - it had the engine under the hood!
A nice finned Glastron is quite an attention grabber these days (especially the hardtops), even if they aren't worth a lot in practicality (or $).

You got it: Glastron. Thanks, it has been in my head for a day and a half.

It is amazing that such a thread had not been started before. Great idea.
