More Firmware: V2.01 for X-Pro1 Body

1.Adding the compatibility with "XF18-55mmF2.8-4 R".
*You will get the full performance with the new zoom lens "XF18-55mmF2.8-4 R".
*Size of the bright frame displayed on OVF can be magnified in relation to zooming motion of XF18-55mm lens.
2.The phenomena below will be fixed.
(1)When using the focus checking function with “3-time” magnification in manual focus mode, you could find a few dots (black or color) only in live view image on EVF/LCD.
(Please be sure even with the firmware version 2.00, these unwanted dots are not recorded in the image data.)
(2)The auto focus accuracy with XF60mm Lens could not be enough.
(3)When using the M- Mount Adapter, under exposure could occur.

I notice a slight silvering in the edges of the points in focus after the update in the 3x magnification mode. Can other users verify this as well? Perhaps this is what Fuji introduced as focus peaking which we've all been waiting for?

I have noticed nothing advantageous or different to me at this stage.

There were actually two firmware updates. 1.01 for xe 1 and the 2.01 for xp1 according to Fuji rumors. Follow the link it will eventually lead to the xe1 update.

just tried to update to the 2.01 but the camera says i am fully updated already...even though it says i only have the 2.0...

Had a similar experience as back alley, loaded 2.01 to body and both 35 and 60. The message said upgrade completed. Turned off the camera and back on again, the camera asked me if I want to upload 2.0. Is this odd or am I having another one of those senior moments.

A bit confused myself

I did the upgrade a while back.. After reading Joe's comment, I went back and checked. It said body 2.00 and lens 2.01. I could have sworn I upgraded the body the same time. Anyway I re-downloaded everything and reformatted my sd card in camwra before I copied them unto the sd card again. Did the body update again and this time it definitely says body and lens 2.01. Not sure what happened last time. Most likely pilot error on my part.

Confused: The update file for the 35/1.4 lens to bring it to ver. 2.01 is named the same as the one that made it ver 2.00. Ver. 2.00 and 2.01 are BOTH named XFUP0002.DAT and both are 385KB.

I'm hesitating to update.

I just downloaded what was there and applied it. I saw the name was the same too. The firmware did update. Indeed you do get the prompt, if you recall, before applying the new version. All seemed to go okay for me.

Fuji's firmware and web teams do not exactly make use of the most recent methods for firmware delivery.

Here's how on avoid trouble.

Before you start the downloads, make a separate folder for each download. Name the folders to describe the up date, for instance: xp1_v201 or 35-14_v200.

Download each update file and move it to the proper folder before you download the next firmware update.

Format the SDHC card in-camera and then transfer only one of the desired update firmware file to the card.

When the update is complete, reformat the SDHC card in camera and repeat the process.

Not only will this keep thr firmware files straight, but when needed it's possible to revert to a previous firmware (assuming this will work, sometime it won't).

You should not have to do these updates this way, but it's clear from reading this forum and others that people unintentionally make errors because Fuji's current system was state-of-the-art in 1998.

I must admit I rather prefer doing it the manual way instead of having some software download and force-feed it to the camera through a cable. When doing something critical you want to eliminate as many possible sources for error as possible, not add more.

If you're used to flashing BIOSes and other kinds of computer hardware plus aware of the sensitivity to the SD-card having been formated in-camera once, Fujis approach is a walk in the park.

I don't even format between each firmware update, I just delete the file(s) off the card. Works perfectly just as it did with my X100. There are clearly some weird things playing a part in the issues some people are having, but I've got a feeling there's a fair bit of user error involved too.

Sorry for being so arrogant, but I've flashed all kinds of devices for almost 20 years now, mostly from cryptic command prompts and not uncommonly with beta or "hacked" firmwares, still I've very rarely had any kinds of issues. Actually, power loss during flashing is the only thing that scare me because the built-in error-checking mechanisms will mostly deflect or prohibit something wrong from happening otherwise.

Well, I was wrong. Upon further review, as they say in sports, my 35/1.4 already had ver. 2.01, which explains why I thought the files were named the same. All I have to do is update the body to 2.01 to be current.
