More Mju love

I am always surprised at the amount of 'keepers' from my Mju II. Despite the lack of manual overrides, it seems to get exposure spot-on 99% of the time and the focus is reliable. I only really use it for happy snaps whilst running with dog in the mornings, but I like the results. These were taken with expired Kodak 400.

Thanks Peter. I'd love to know more about the 'intelligence' going on inside. Seems to kind of read your mind sometimes ;-) I normally use a 100-200 ISO to kind of force f2.8 as much as possible.

Those are VERY fine! just got mine a couple weeks ago at the Goodwill store for $1.99 USD. Works perfectly, but I haven't seen the pics yet.

As you can read elsewhere, I'm on my second Mju-II. First one lasted 11 years. You know why it rocks!

Not bashing Mju, but I yet have to find P&S in price range of Mju (around US$100 new) which didn't expose properly. As long as camera isn't limited to single or few speed or aperture values, exposure typically isn't a problem.

Not all of them focused as well as the MJU (1 and 2).

I had Minoltas and a Canon that couldn't hit focus to save their lives.

It's actually my dog - he's got a bit of Dingo in him which gives him that 'look'. He was probably chasing kangaroos when that pic was taken actually ;-)

lovely shots. very atmospheric and serene. i definitely get a lot of keepers from the mjuii as well. i also find that when it comes to photographing people the camera seems to put more people at ease than a dslr or even a leica.

Overseas version of an Olympus Stylus Epic.

I find them to be very lovely little cameras. Perfect to keep in one's pocket. I have one black and one beige/gold. The beige/gold is especially unassuming; passerbys never even glance at it.

Haha, I suppose it depends on where you are and what exactly lies over the seas.

Olympus Stylus Epic = US market
Mju II = Everywhere else market

I always have said that Olympus over the years have produced the best cameras across the range. My Olympus Stylus Infinity (mju I) I bought from new and have used every years since. It fits in a shirt pocket and is fast too use and a great lens about 10 years ago the front fell off but it has worked the same since.

I once saw an exposure 'map' posted somewhere but essentially all the Olympus program cameras prefer shutter speed to aperture and keep the aperture wide open until the shutter speed exceeds a certain level. (is it 1/250th ?)
