More photos because so many wanted to see more. I will get back to replying to all the questions and comments in a bit.
Ridiculous Mess
This caught my attention immediately, why a mess this motor trike was. Someone was hauling something nice an messy in a construction area or something. Goes well with the eclectic background of old Chinese buildings though.
Quick Snooze
This guy catches a little shut eye as his girlfriend goes shopping. We all had that thought before right?
Guard?
A little cat put out in front of a table by the side of the street. A guard from thieves or a clever ploy to attract attention to the things for sale above. Either way the cat wanted attention, and it got some.
Big shoes little shoes
So do you need a size 1 or 1000? The stool is cleverly placed just in case you want to try. Actually these types of Chinese hand made cloth shoes are pretty comfortable but not something I would wear around as they tend to....stick out...
Dazed
Caught playing around and standing in a daze this little kid is about to get a scolding from his mother and he knows it.
Lazy Animal
This dog....this dog....every day for a week I walked by where this dog was sleeping, and every time he was there in the exact same position and the exact same look on his face. Once time I saw him awake and sitting there, still had the same look on his face though.
Bike and Bucket
One thing they use in Pingyao that we dont have in Chongqing is bikes, mainly because Pingyao is so flat and Chongqing is a mountain city. I miss riding bikes around though, a lot to see from the seat of a bike. Who ever owns this bike sure has a handy way of taking stuff with him, how is that for protection?
Tall?
Maybe he is too tall, maybe his tent is too short, whatever the cause he left something outside...Oh and yes, he is sleeping in there, I went and looked
😉
Kids on parade
Kids on their way to school creates a mob in the streets and stops traffic both ways for a few minutes as they take the opportunity to pose for a few photos.
Anything for a yuan
Its amazing all the messages here in this picture. Icons of different worlds colliding together in one spot. Red stars and the hammer and sickle, an American and British flag, Che Guevara, Chinese propaganda posters, all a mere shadow of their true meaning. Really shows you how the world has changed and these symbols are all used for profit now.
Waiting with reflections
Every knock on a glass door where you could see in the place you wanted to go and just stood there watching for someone to come and open up for you? Is it not funny that this cat is kind of doing the same thing? We really are more alike then we care to say. This cat may not be able to knock on the glass but a few well places meows and the classic stare waiting for someone to open up...
Donkey
There were a lot of donkies around Pingyao, they were doing all the pulling work and what not, and on holidays they get dressed up a bit for presentation. The other thing is there in Pingyao they eat these things, I tired it, not too bad really, but not something I would add to my normal diet.
Sunset over Pingyao
They may not have much here that appeals to someone like me, but at leas the sky is relatively clear, unlike the sunless gray polluted skies of Chongqing.
Robert van der Hilst
I ran into this guy in Pingyao putting on a photo exhibition about Shannxi province house interiors. His photos had great depth with subtle colors and great care taken to composition. They really stood out compared to the normal blend of this and that you see when looking at exhibitions all day. He told me that he has been working in China for the last 3 years and will spend the next year here with a big focus on creating the question "what is that?" in his photos. Oh...he took one look at my camera and said "I dont like Leica's, your's is probably better"
