That is something else, Harry. Wow. I have a Jaeger LeCoultre Atmos clock that is less complicated (and currently in need of repair).

Terrible picture of it, I've been meaning to take some better ones. I have several shots of it in this flickr set, plus some shots from the camera. Very hard to load, and hard to wind once loaded, as I only have one spool, and it originally took a paper-backed roll similar to (but importantly not identical to) 828.
I need to take some glamour shots of it: it is a little jewel.

That is absolutely gorgeous! Complicated yes, but the quality is amazing. Of course, the fact that all the engravings are impossible to read - at least for me does not detract from it. I have used one once - decades ago - with the single negative holder no less!

I have the ground glass back for it, as well as the roll back. The one roll I successfully put through it, I used a straw for the source spool, and hand rolled some regular 35mm onto it in the changing bag. Used the one spool I have for it as the takeup spool, and it sort of worked.
Here's a better picture, although the intervening couple of years shows a bit of stainless steel tarnish, which I need to take care of.

I saw one in a London dealer for £999, I'm not sure if it was a Rollei-made one or DHW Fototechnik. Obviously it's not a discreet camera, but I must admit to liking it very much.
The list price of £4000 or whatever is crazy, but £999 I think is getting there. I mean it's a compact full-frame 35mm camera with a Sonnar lens, built in Germany. It's half the price of an RX1, will last longer, and will hold it's value longer into the future.
I know that many will say that because the RX1 is digital it has to be worth more, because of all the costly electronics. Well, it has to cost more, certainly, but does not need to be worth more. I mean, look at the computer industry, you can now buy systems which were quite literally *millions* of dollars when they came out for less than one thousand dollars now. They're not even that old, they're still useful, very fast computers, but the electricity they pull makes them very expensive to run, so a hard headed business will ditch it.
But I digress, I guess I'm just saying that £1000 sticker shock seems to be more shocking on a film camera than a digital, because we're conditioned to think digital is worth more, but it's not, it just costs more to make and develop.

If you want to shoot long, nothing beats the design simplicity of the OM1:
I'd say this one's got good chances to be voted the beauty queen of this contest. Hard to beat, really. Love that simplistic and functional 70s design. Just like the Pentax M-series.

I think that you have just acquired my GX, Aperture were selling mine on commission. Well done, I hope that it gives you great pleasure, I still have a 3.5F, had to let a few things go to fund a M9, Aperture are great to deal with. I am really struggling with digital and seem to be using more TRX now.

Maybe not the most beautiful camera of them all - but one of the strangest - A Corfield Periflex III. Periscope focussing (dim finder does not half describe it). Somehow it does work - though only in bright light. The mount is a 39mm thread - but if you stick a 39mm lens on it (Leica thread) it has certain distances in focus - others are skipped!

What a small world! I love the look of the GX, not had the chance to really try it out yet though. I used to have a 3.5E, but the appeal of an accurate meter for slide film got me thinking about the GX.
