I decided my X-E bodies just don’t bring me joy, so I’ll be replacing them with a X100VI. I’d love a Q3 43 to complement my Q2M, but that’s a *lot* of money - and I’ve been bad lately.

X100VI users, how are you liking it? I know the lens was improved somewhere between my version and current and the resolution bump will be nice. I’m hoping I can dumb down the controls to the point my reptilian brain can handle it.

I don't have the X100VI, but I have an original X100, and the improvements to the lens would be very welcome. It's just not very sharp wide open, especially close up. The controls are easily dumbable, so to speak. Just set the Auto ISO to the range you prefer, and dial in the aperture and shutter speed according to taste.

That’s my impression of the X100S lens, too - a great performer, but you want to stop down at MFD if you’re maximizing sharpness. It does have a pleasant rendering of flowers and such wide open close up, though.

The newer lens sounds like it is more consistent, and adding IBS has to help in practical usability.

Fuji has from day one recommended stopping down when shooting close-up with the original 23mm X100 lens. It's not optimized for close-up, wide-open. That said, I always found the rendering very pleasing. I have had most of the X100 versions over the years (started the very first Fuji forum in fact, back in early 2011, originally the x100forum.com, now fujix-forum.com.)

I had the VI last year, the build quality is impressive, everything about it is high quality. A step up from older versions. The higher res and IBIS are bonuses.

x100V is also very good if you can find one, keeping mine. there's just something about it that is "there".

I rented x100S a few yrs ago and it was not 'there' like the V

I'm very happy with my two X100S cameras. None of the improvements made since have any value to me or the way I shoot. The B&W images are superb and the handling is comfortable. That's all I want in the end.
