And I have lost my mind. Does anyone else have this problem.... Half exposed rolls of film in to darn many bodies. I curently have:

Nikkormat with 20 exposures left. Took it to the Nats game the other day, wrong lens, to much beer, Nats lost again 🙁 .

Contax G2 with 8 exposures left. Haven't used this in months.

Leica R8 with 24 exposures left. I keep sticking my 300d on the R glass so it doesn't get used. :bang:

Bessa r with 20 exposures left (B&W).

Bessa L with 20 exposures left (B&W).

Pentax 645 with 6 exposures left......

Is it just me or do others have trouble getting through a roll. In fairness I just loaded the bessas for a trip downtown that was canceled at the last minute. If I plan to just go shooting film I don't have this problem. These are from events/spur of the moment/wheatever times that I just took a few shots and never finished.

I see 2 clear problems here. I have to much gear and need to eliminate some good gear I'm not using. I am bouncing between equipment to much and need to just use one for a while and get better.....

I am going to shoot all of this stuff off this weekend.

After that I have decided to box everything up and hide it from myself for a while except for one body and lens. It's going to be the Bessa R with either a J3 or my new CV 75 on it. I have 10 rolls of Shantou Era I bought here from Bmattock here at RFF. I'm not opening the box till all 10 rolls are exposed/developed/scanned/played with and enjoyed for a while.

Once done I may do the same thing with an SLR.

Does anyone else have this problem?

As for me, I personally prefer to leave my brain in a drawer for the weekend, with some silica gel for moisture control.

Just kidding. Yeah, I've got the Unfinished Roll Disease, too. I like your conviction, though...I'd be a better person if I could box up my little-used gear and shoot with only one SLR and one RF, for example. As it is, I'm thinking about "buying into" a totally different system, and I'm thinking I must be crazy.

I also swap bodies a lot, rewinding a partial roll and continuing it in another camera. If I lose track during such a switch, it's a pretty dire logisitical nightmare. And I do it a lot, especially on older bodies without film reminder windows.

Good luck in your endeavor.

Cheers,
--joe.

Not quite as bad as you but here's my current situation"

Nikon F3 (downstate): Full roll (36 exp.) T-Max 400

Nikon F3 (upstate): 2 exp. left

Bessa R2S: 2 or 3 exposures left

Contax IIIc: ? exposures remaining (forgot to set the counter!)

Graflex 35mm RF: "Emergency" camera sits in glove box - 35 exp. left!

But blessedly: Nikon F5 (both) empty; Nikon F100 empty, Nikon S2 empty; Nikon F empty.

Now please don't get me started on the cameras sitting out in Tucson!

Ah there ya go trying to use the other state thing as an excuse....... I travel to Florida all of the time and that is where a Canon F1 sits with an undetermined number of shots left in it :bang: :bang: :bang:

I just won't do it. Well, okay, I have a 1/4 used foll of FP-4 in my Kodak Retina IIIc. I started it last week and then got busy.

Unused FP-4 in a Kodak Retina IIIc! You really should be flamed for that. 😱 Just imagine what beautiful images that combination can achieve! 😉

the real question is: do you see the difference from these rolls?

if yes, keep all of them and leave them all out. if not, then...

well, you need a bit more zen...

Well I'm no where near as bad as you are, but I have been working on a roll of kodak iso 400UC since the last week of march.

Yeah, similar (though smaller) problem here, too. I now find my self spending more time deciding which camera to take with me than doing the actual shooting! Oh, well. It is a better problem than not having any/enough gear.

I suppose I should be more worried about film flatness due to rolls sitting in the camera, but so far I haven't had huge issues with partially finished rolls sitting in the cameras for a while (seems to me it's more of an issue in my medium format cameras). I guess I kind of like re-discovering the images I shot when I develop the film - a bit of Garry Winogrand-esque technique or something.

I do like the subject line for this thread.... it's been a long week and it's nice to see some Ramones lyrics on RFF. If you haven't heard the song, it's a nice little dig at Reagan and, it's a great Phil Spector/Ramones collaboration.

Have a great weekend everyone,
andrew

I used to have partially shot rolls sitting around in cameras, but I recently made a rule.
If a film has been in the camera for more than a week there are several options:
1. remove and process regardless of how many frames are left.
2. shoot the rest of the roll, then remove and process.
3. remove, shoot in another camera.
4. remove, mark number of exposed frames and date, store for future use.

I end up wasting some film here and there, but it saves a lot of guessing about what film is in a camera a month down the road.

I'm having the same problem. So bad, in fact, that I'm thinking of paring down the number of bodies I have so it's not as much of an issue anymore.

Lets see...

FED3 with most of a roll of 400uc since January
Yashica Electro Pro with a roll of Fuji HQ 200 since 1 week
Yashica GSN with a roll of BW400cn since last week
Canon t70 with a roll of 400uc since who knows when.

What a mess.

?

The latter is the right one. Photography is not a merry-go-round with the cameras we own. Each of yours is made for a certain purpose, the goal is to take the right one for your next project. If there isn't any, leave them alone. Saves film ! 😉
