Hi , after a couple of years with my CV Bessa R2 and R2a i would to buy a leica camera, yes but which i chose?

I'm very happy with my Bessa my CV lenses and my 50mm summicron , i would buy a Leica camera for the curiosity to hold in the hand a legend of the photography than for necessity, the photos than i'll do will be the same with the leica camera, this 's sure.....

And at last my budget 's about 550 $

Bye bye

My favorite is the M2, and it is often the least expensive. It has framelines for 35mm, 50mm, and 90mm.

an m2 is right up your alley if you also use a 35mm lens, other wise an m3 is good too. 550 should be able to find you a decent example somewhere

Thank you guys for the replies, i was direct toward a camera without meter , i've found an M4 in good condition at a good price.

Could you say me the difference between the M2,M3 and M4?

bye

Fabrizio

few days back, there was a user M2 re-clothed in brown ostrich for sale for 550 on photo.net. give the person a shout might still be around.

Briefly, the M4 has a rewind crank -- not a knob like earlier models -- and faster film loading. It has 35, 50, 90 and 135 finder frames (the M3 does not have the 35 and the M2 does not have the 135).

the magnification of the M3 is .91; thus the M3 is the best VF if you love to shoot the 50mm focal length, especially if you want to shoot in available light with fast 5cm lenses. The EBL of the M3 rocks even the .85 MP VF.

the m4 will have a busier VF than the M2 or M3.

Hi, my choice would be the M2, just a fantastic body, but the M4 is probably 10 years newer, which can acount for a lot of use. Be aware that $550 would not usualy get you an M4 so it may not be the greatest where as $550 is ball park for a user M2, IMHO. Cheers Andrew.
