I have a mintish Canon 7 w/ 3 lenses (...) I'm planning to sell soon too.

Which lenses to you have with it? Not that I can afford it, but I do miss the 7 I used to have.

BTW - the same S2 is on the "show off your Nikon RF page" in case you wanted another view of it.

Yes, I remembered these nice family pictures :)

If you recently visited my website, you know my cameras need to do some modelling too... this will be no exception. :D

cheers Frank

Yeah I generally charge a premium for my stuff. But I have (all near mint, but with oil on the aperature blades of some) Canon 50mm f/1.4 LTM, black Jupiter-9 85mm f/2.0 LTM, black Cosina Voigtlander 35mm f/2.5 LTM (like new in box).

I'll admit to major GAS over them - I've especially been interested in the 50/1.4 for awhile, but not anytime soon I fear. Still, someone here will give them a good home.

A great picture of two of the nicest cameras ever I've got from Huub:

My S2 has arrived soon! (get not stuck in customs, great)
How small she is - of course this camera is female! - to my Canon-RF-used hands! Sure it's not mint and has some bright marks, but no dents or ugly spots, and best of all, the shutter sounds really snappy (if not to say, loud!) - not bad for a 50 year old camera! :)
The first thing I always check with any camera I get (when it's warmed-up in my house) is if the shutter isn't advanced. Does the seller know not storing/shipping a cocked camera? Of course, Jon knows..
The viewfinder is more of the darker sort when compared with other cameras due to gray-toned glasses, but this seems to be usual with this type. The RF spot good visible. And the focussing throw is looong..
At the weekend there was a UK seller selling some lenses and stuff. The black Nikkor-S 1.4/50 and leather case had my name on it since it arrived in the bay. Probably it will be here today! Since she hasn't any other framelines I think this will be a fixed combination for me. A walk through the city with the camera, a f/1.4 lens, half case, 400ASA b&W film and my Lunasix attached to the strap...

Yeah a Nikon Rangefinder. A Leica couldn't make feel me better. Had some M4's, M6's in my hands to check, but it didn't took my breath away. A money and status thing. Common. Square. This is SPECIAL. Now I'm belonging to the Nikon snobs too. Oh Dear!

Far more than "style", owning a certain camera is always a bit "history stuff" to me, more than in a pure-technically aspect in terms of specs and features. This can be read on my collector's website. And with no doubt, the S2 was a veery important camera for Nikon - as well as to Zeiss-Ikon, needless to say... a "winner's" camera...

Enjoy the "new" camera.

Nikons (and Contaxes and Kievs) have a long focus throw because of the design of the lens mount, which includes the focus helical on the body. So every lens must have the same focus throw.

The S2 shutter is loud. The later SP and S3 have quieter shutters.

If you do become interested in other lenses, the Cosina-Voigtlaender 28/35 minifinder is a good match for the camera. It's actually better than shooting wide angles through an SP, because it has more magnification.

Hi Frank, Congratulations with the new S2. It's a great camera. BTW, nice to show my photo of the S2 IIa comparison. I put it on the Show off your Nikon thread a couple of days ago too ;-))

I try and put emphasis on service meaning double-boxing and rapid shipping so I'm glad that you got it quickly and safely (did I really forget to untrip the shutter? I loved playing around with that camera so it seems like me). That particular S2 really is an excellent user - it certainly isn't mint, but the moment you trip the shutter you know it's in really excellent condition mechanically. When you pair it up with that magical 50mm you're going have a blast shooting (I also recommend the cheap H&W? http://cgi.ebay.com/For-Leica-M-43m...ryZ29965QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem lens hood & 55mm cap). Send me the link to it on your website once you're finished with it & Happy Shooting!

Nikons, unlike some other cameras, don't seem to suffer too much from the shutters sitting untripped for a long period of time. That said, I do all keep mine stored with shutters tripped, and try to work the slow-speed and high-speed mechanisms every few months on the cameras that don't get much use (mostly my SLRs).

Yeah I acutally try and dry fire my unused cameras (really only my F2AS & D200 see usage) at least once a month. Keeps everything nice and lubed.
