My First Trip With a Film M

Hi everybody,

I just got my photos back from the lab, these are all shots from my trip to Charleston, SC.
I went there with,
my M6,
Zeiss 50 sonnar
and a Voigtlander 15.

I shot two rolls of film, one roll of KOdak Ektar and a roll of Ilford FP4.

First I will start with the BW shots, I shot this roll first so these are from the first day or two of my trip:

I found FP4 a bit low-contrast when I tried it, although no doubt this would improve with a different developer.

Try a roll of Kodak Tri-X (now confusingly labelled 400 TX with "Tri-X" in very small lettering). Forget that it's 400 ASA; it's brilliant for portraits and, in fact, most subjects except maybe detailed landscapes. It's never ceased to amaze me with its versatility and ideal balance of grain and contrast.

David Manning - Yes, I am enjoying shooting film. I plan on doing a comparison with the lab scans to my epson v700 sometime later this month.

RanceEric - I'm glad you like that one! It came out exactly as I envisioned it when I was taking the shot.

filmfan - It was my first visit to Charleston and I love that place! Everybody is so nice there. Thanks.

rogerzilla - I have tried Tri-x before, but I will definitely give it another shot.

Steve Bellayr - Thank you. I agree, it takes me back in time...

porktaco - Thanks, the zeiss has a nice rendering wide open. I recommend a ND filter for it though, it allowed me to use a wide aperture in daylight during this trip.
