Add a Nikkor 28/2.8 or 24/2.8 AI-S and I could be set.

Actually, I think I already am. . . .

Until very recently, I had an SLR kit that consisted of an FM3A, a CV 20/3.5, and 50/1.8 AIS, and 85/1.4 and 105/2.5 AIS, but I traded the body, the 20 and 50 for RF gear. While the FM3A is a damn good camera, I just found that if were shooting film, I preferred to use my ZI's.

I still have the 2 longer lenses as well as some AFS lenses for my D700, but for shooting film, I use my ZI's.

I love both formats, SLR and RF.

Pentax ME + Pentax-M 40mm f/2.8 by efixphoto, on Flickr

This lens just gives me gobs of happiness each time I use it. I'd probably like to add the 50/1.7 for low light at some point, and maybe an 85mm for portraits. But neither is an urgent acquisition. But just in case, any recommendations which 85mm to get for the Pentax?

I think my ideal would be an OM3 with that 40/2 Zuiko, but with a tele zoom to supplement.

As it is, I have an OM2SP with a 35/2.8, 50/1.8, 28-70 zoom, all Zuiko, and a Vivitar 70-210.

I also have extension tubes for macros.

I think, given how much I don't use SLRs, that'll probably do.

I have two sets I really like:

1. Nikon F - Nikkor-N.C 2.8/24 - Nikkor-S.C 1.4/50 - Nikkor-H 1.8/85 - Gossen Lunasix

2. Pentax Spotmatic SPII - Tamron 2.5/24 - Mamiya Sekor 1.8/55 - Jupiter-8 2/85

Also not bad is:

3. Canon EOS 500n - Sigma EX 1.8/24 - Canon EF 1.8/50 II

As you can see, I really like "focal lenght doubling".

I'm a Nikon guy only because way back when I inheirited a tremendous box of old camera gear, Nikon was the only stuff I could work with 21st-century equipment.
If I were to start all over again? Olympus or Contax (though I already have an RTS I I'm looking to dump). Hands down.

That said, my basic Nikkor lineup is a 28/2.8, 50/1.8, 85/1.4 (my only quote-unquote 'professional' lens), and a 135/2.5 AI. But I'm with Rodchenko.

6D + 40mm pancake

6D + 40mm pancake

Snagged this the other day and so only had a couple days to play....
Initial findings so far is that this could possibly be my "ideal SLR kit" for the following reasons (mentioned many times in numerous forums):

1. Compact - not RF compact, but able to tuck in between knick knacks easily because of the pancake.
2. Nice high ISO files for my uses.
3. AF w/ centre AF marker is accurate at low light levels.
4. Quiet shutter in normal mode... quieter still in silent mode *probably my favorite feature of this SLR*.

It's still in the trial phases here at home.... we'll see I guess.

Hi,

And my ideal was the Leica R5 with a 35mm and 90mm but it failed and I couldn't afford Solm's prices. I wish I still had one but the prices have gone up and up.

OTOH, I like the Minolta XD-7 and X-300, the Canon EOS 300V, the OM-1 and 2n, the Pentax ME super and the old Pentax K1000 but I do wish I had the old R5 outfit.

Regards, David

I just acquired an ME Super with a 50mm f/1.8 lens, at a thrift shop for $15.00. Nice little camera.

But my preferred kit is always the Fujica ST901 with Fujinon 50mm f/1.4, 28mm and 135mm f/3.5, 35mm f/2.8, and 50mm macro. Supplemented by Vivitar TX 24mm and 300mm, Spiratone 18mm, and a wonderful 200mm Sigma macro. Add a Vivitar 285 flash and I can go anywhere and do about anything.

Oh, did I mention the two men and a boy it takes to carry all that?
