The surfer makes this great image more abstract! Where is he/she? Is my eyesight OK?

I do own several instax cameras (by Fuji, by Lomography and by Leica) but I have mainly used for "socializing" or memory shots. Never thought of crearting art photos with them.
You show that it is possible. But I doubt that I will get out such amazing images.

Kent, you don't know till you try. When I bought the Mini 9 I had low expectations.I do own several instax cameras (by Fuji, by Lomography and by Leica) but I have mainly used for "socializing" or memory shots. Never thought of crearting art photos with them.

Time to add some more Instax pictures!
Picture #104 with the Instax Wide 300. Late summer clouds over the Sydney coast, taken late afternoon. The Instax Wide's auto exposure has exposed for the average light, and the narrow film latitude underexposes the darker areas. I expected this - the camera has +/- 2/3 EV exposure compensation but I didn't want to overexpose the clouds.
Picture #105, a few moments later looking due east, out over the Pacific Ocean.

Charming as usual, Lynn. It’s possibly just me, but I continue to find these oddly uplifting. Maybe it’s the color palette, maybe it’s the level of abstraction which serves to make them more universal, and thus more “relatable”, than photos which are high resolution and “sharp to the corners”. Maybe it’s all that combined with the fact that I personally find the seashore to be very calming to begin with.
Thanks for posting, I always enjoy looking at these.

Thanks Larry and you're welcome. An interesting thought! Perhaps it's also something to do with the snapshot-like style triggering happy memories of summer holidays at the beach? I hadn't thought of that.

Lynn, I came back on here to make a corrective addition to my earlier post. It’s the compositions as well, foremost. I didn’t want to leave the impression that it was just the camera and film.
And, yes, I grew up on the beach, so hard to deny that resonates with me, personally, but I imagine I would enjoy these regardless.

As usual it is a pleasure to go through your Instax photos Lynn. And the colours, the warmth, the light in the beach scenes (like # 286) seen in our cold winter days really give a joy to the spirit! Thanks Lynn!

Picture #473 with the Instax Mini 9. Lifeguards watching swimmers, late summer on Dee Why beach, 2021. I really like the approx 1-stop overexposure I get with the Mini 9 in sunny-16 light.
