Seriously though, The Canon RF market seems far less liquid than the Leica M. Either there aren't as many, or the owners hold onto them for longer. Or both.

You have to fix that, a barely used M6 is an abused M6.

I am taking a photography class and my teacher mentioned he wants to sell all his Contax SLR and MF stuff and buy a Leica kit. He is looking for an M6, M3 and 3 or 4 lenses. I am taking my little kit with me so that he can do some window shopping this week.
 
Argh, damned gas, did it again, bid on a M3 kit and won. looks like a real user, but with a nice summicron lens. I had this nice plan: get a IIIf or a nicca and be happy. Then a CLA'd user came up, and another auction on an Elmar 50/2.8. I bid on both--and only won the M elmar. Drats! So I was going to sell that and pick up the LTM version. But that seemed to complicated. I want to shoot some film. So, another M3 came up, the rest is history. This is it for me folks, the camera I'll take to Film's Grave.

So I guess Dave's M3 left an impression on me.

If I remember correctly the debate was....

Yup, she never had a chance.
 
I will call the United Nations, every "new" used Leica M3 should carry a warning label: "Using M3 is highly additictive! Contact your doc for help to give up Leica M3s"

Had three M3s, sold one - got another one within a month! Still have three M3s.
Even a 2004 MP just feels like a fake of the real thing!

Regarding digital M: it took like almost 20 years to develop the M3 and do it really right, so we should exspect the ultimate Digital M3 not before 2020. (Hope it will still work with a 1936 Summar).

I feel that a Leica M3 gets me closer to the great photographers of yore than any other piece of gear. Hence, it makes me feel smart! :)

I still use the MR meter on it, though... That reminds me I'm not THAT smart. :(

Heck, they're a joy to use! :)
 
Congratulations...I have a M3DS and an M6. For some reason I like the feel of the M3 better--more bulk? Don't know for sure. Trouble is when I use the M6 I try to DS it. Oh well.
