My Noctilux Diary

Does the noct not transmit colours?

Can I have a portrait in Portra NC 160 perchance?

if you look at the previous page (18), you can see how gorgeous the Nocti does colours. don't believe any were shot on Portra, however. maybe Gabor has some on his flickr site?

Thank you, they look great! I actually think it's a bit cliché only doing high-iso b/w and abit of a shame since it does so great with colours.

I would highly recommend to have a look at the photos of Toshihiro Oshima over at flickr. He has a lot of very good photos taken with the Noctilux and Provia 160NC, amongst them a lot of portrait work.

I myself have mostly used Kodak Portra 400UC (ultra color) but no a lot of photos in color at all ...

Cheers,

Gabor

@ maddoc - the [Among the Faces] shot was taken with non-f1.0. Which stop I don't remember...but I do remember that I did this to keep all the paintings in focus. This is one of those moments that f1.0 won't do.

@ Rodluvan - I myself usually shot in B/w and color in turn: this roll B/w, then the next roll color, and so on. I'm uploading some color Nocti-shots after all the work at hand is done. Maybe in 2010.... :-(

And they say it's a recession...
Yes it's still some kind of a recession. You do a lot more but got paid the same. ;-) (no i'm kidding my boss; just have to find something to whine about in a forum.)

I love the girl. And the cars that make the girl.

------

There are some films that I just don't know how to use. For example, I've seen many great shot with Kodak 400VC in 6x6, but for the three rolls I've shot I can't say I'll want to use it again.

Same with the AGFA Vista 400. I love the B/W APX400 from AGFA, but this Vista 400, I just can't make it look good without some manipulation in the Photoshop.

Maybe it's fate? (no it's skill and experience)

Anyway,

Some shots from Noctilux + AGFA Vista 400:

@ urban_alchemist: I like the recent series better than the first one because of the colors. #2 (the man with his son ? and the horse) is my favorite here.

Thanks! Yeah - me too. Whereas the first set was taken at night, these were at twilight - when you can get the best out of the daylight-calibrated emulsions. I really need to shoot in this light more!

Wow, haven't updated this thread for a long long time. I've been too busy.... We're lucky enough to survive this far in the record business today.

Do you expose at the box ISO? I find under tungsten light if I over expose by a stop the colours are much better and more easily able to be made more tonal without losing the feel of the warm yellow light.
