Hi Bob,
It could be a Pentax K mount though I don't see the aperture linkage.
Here is one of mine. Sorry for the bad quality.

If You would have more clear pictures... (+side). It looks like a Pentacon six mount (or the KIEV 60, 88). Also the lens has these stripes which are like the pentacon mount lens.

It looks very much like a Pentax K-mount with no aperture linkage, so probably the lens is a preset lens w/ a K-mount.

Looks like the Exakta mount...

Nope - I thought that too, but the three 'wedges' of an Exakta mount are all the same size, and this one has one that's smaller.

I was thinking that it was something Germanic as well, based upon the 'look' of the lens, as well as that pistol grip release. Something 1960's East German.

I already checked Edixa, Petri, Topcon, Voigtlander (Bessamatic), and none of them match up.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far but I have tried most of the suggested camera mounts and come up empty. The lens is a Schneider-Kreuznach Tele-Variogon 1:4/80-240. The other little mystery is the filter that came with it which is unmarked except for the orange ring around it. It can be seen, in place, between lens body and the hood. The other interesting thing is that the lens mount appears to be changeable. Wish I could find the Nikon F mount for it.

Edit

Yea, checked the Schneider-Krueznach site but could not find any photos of the different mount adapters they had.

Thank you very much, I did not see the bit about the numbers corresponding to specific mount. I knew they came in various mounts but they would not match any of my friends several hundred cameras and I could not find photos of all the different mounts. The mount on the lens did look vaguely familiar but with the info you added I did find a number 14 in the mount area which would make it a Leica R Mount. My friend has no Leica SLRs as luck would have it. Now to find a photo of the Leica R mount to confirm it. Thanks again.

Edit to add

Thanks for everyone's help, it does look to be a Leica R mount. I guess I need to find a cheap R body now,

Did the same and looks like your eye and mine see that same.

I think I am going to wait on the cheap Leica R body until I can find someone who can clean some fungus out of this lens at a reasonable cost. It looks like it deserve a second chance at life.
