I was at the flea market today and came across a camera I have never seen or heard of before. For all intensive purposes it was an olympus XA2 with a couple different features. I think it said it was a contax or cosina, not sure which. Instead of a clam shel l design there was a panel covering the lens that swiveled to get out of the way. It also came with a little flash like the A16 and it also had a little mini power winder. Thoughts, feelings, anything? I think he was charging 90 bucks for the lot, which seemed pricey, but hey, maybe its rare? It was, in his defence, in great condition, and it came with the original case.

Could it be this one:

I don't know anything about them beyond that they look pretty neat.

Yes, that is it! Except I think it is the CX-2 http://www.camerapedia.org/wiki/Cosina_CX-2
Anybody know anything about these cameras? Google didn't come up with much.

I think there is a discussion of them here at RFF. And the site(http://35mm-compact.com/) that I got the photo from has some basic info. The site is french but there is a translation button that gives an OK version in english.

It sounds like a Chinon Belami to me. Not the AF version but similar to this one

After the success of the Olympus XA most major manufacturers marketed clamshell 35's.

A Cocina CX-2 look alike is the Minolta AFC which is an autofocus model.

Ambitious, but rubbish
Assuming it is a Cosina CX, it is something of a rare bird - I haven't been able to find any on eBay. You could say it is the camera that started the wholw Lomography craze. According to http://shop.lomography.com/lca+/history.html, it is the Cosina CX-1 that the russians copied to make the Lomo LC-A. So, if you're into lomo, I would grab it if it's still available.
